lol if you want you can even circumvent e-mail confirmation w/o problems nowadays, using mobile phones, someone else's computer etc. Not worth the hassle imo.

without email confirmation it makes it easier for bots to register, (although they can confirm emails) it's also hard to stay in contact with members if they don't put in a legit email, that's the main reason you want to do verification, we need to ban disposable emails so people put a legit one in.
