Week 3 chat and predictions

Welcome to Famous Paintings Week. I hope you all enjoy your topics. I tried to select the most open-ended famous paintings I could find, the types of art that will hopefully generate creative verses. If you don't recognize your painting, that shouldn't be a problem. If you really want to know, you can either ask me or figure it out yourself using Google's reverse image search at http://images.google.com/ (click the camera, then paste the URL in).

Here's matchups for those who want to do some predicting:

Certain (2-0) vs. patrown (2-0)
Vividlyvague (2-0) vs. Mr. J (2-0)
Objective (1-0) vs. King Ra. (1-0)
Just Write (1-0) vs. Mike Wrecka (1-1)
NYCSPITZ (1-1) vs. Zenland (1-1)
Frank (1-1) vs. YDK (1-1)
Scripter (1-1) vs. Clutter Buck (0-0)
Split Eight (0-0) vs. Lexicon (0-0)
breathless (0-1) vs. Innovator (0-2)

A magazine will be up late Monday night, Tuesday at the latest.

Certain 10-07-2013 03:30 AM

Last week was really great, guys. This is the best group of voters I've ever seen in a league in terms of both the quality of feedback and the variety of tastes.

My predictions will be in the magazine.

breathless 10-07-2013 04:40 AM

Respect on the votes and advice, I definitely need to work on my story style, never was my strong suit, Generally I just take an abstract view on a topical level, I'll give a saga a go this week though
And man, I didn't think that "won't last, nope" thing was so bad, I thought it rhymed fine, the nope was an unexpressed segue... "hundred to no chance" "comin home" "done but it won't last"... It's difficult to translate atypical flow to text, here's a quick a Capella...

Is anyone opposed to me dropping an audio like this with my pieces or would that be considered vote swaying?

that is, in many cases the problem with text. sound is relative to dialect and accent. if how YOU say something is diff from me, i may not hear the attempt. plus sometimes it may get discounted for being out of place as far as literary/complex word usage theme goes. i got hit on that too this week ("ewww to chew").

Certain (2-0) vs. patrown (2-0)
>>big PatrĂ³n fan. However, patrown may have a tough time taking down Certain who appears to be very experienced in topicals/ storytelling as well as smoother mechanically. Idk what either of them wrote about last week, though.

Vividlyvague (2-0) vs. Mr. J (2-0)
>>I've always seen Mr. J as one of the more underrated writers since he first appeared in the NWL way back when. Thinks laterally in a refreshing way. Vague has the motivation factor going for him. I see Mr. J having an edge in concepts and editing/ cleanliness of writing, which is a fuckin edge man

Objective (1-0) vs. King Ra. (1-0)
>>both are pretty evenly matched writers. me and AIMZ as former moderators have a secret voting pact/ AOWL shadow government that has been doing its work. You think his disappearance and my Rd 1 playoffs no-show two seasons in a row are coincidental?

Just Write (1-0) vs. Mike Wrecka (1-1)
>> JW is filthy. MW came at me sideways. J comes before M in the alphabet, and I'd rather roll Js than roll M

NYCSPITZ (1-1) vs. Zenland (1-1)
>>NYCSPITZ arugably used a repost from his TopicalHOFnomicron that had been penT uP for the past six years in between leafs of blood oak. ZenLand is a bit rusty, conceptually. Also lost his old dope avy.

Frank (1-1) vs. YDK (1-1)
>> I tried to rent YDK's man poem book on inter-collegiate library loan, they refused my request because it wasn't academic in nature. boom.

Scripter (1-1) vs. Clutter Buck (0-0)
>>judgin by discussion trends, Clutter Buck will be servin' words this week

Split Eight (0-0) vs. Lexicon (0-0)
>> gl mayne BOTW BOTY BOTC ya BISH

breathless (0-1) vs. Innovator (0-2)
>> I got FAT winning, breathless is cool tho and should stick around

Mike Wrecka 10-07-2013 07:22 AM

@Certain @patrown , I have posted your topic

certain feel free to resize it if you would like. I gotta go

Zen 10-07-2013 07:30 AM

Honestly, I think dropping an audio would be swaying. That's part of the point of text, to write so that others can pick up your flow and rhymes. Moreover, I really don't think a few slant rhymes will ever be enough to cost you a win.

Certain 10-07-2013 11:35 AM

What do y'all think of the topics?

VividEnds 10-07-2013 11:49 AM

right in my wheelhouse :)

breathless 10-07-2013 11:54 AM

I am not pleased with mine actually

Mr. J 10-07-2013 12:35 PM

Surprised yall missed the "Gone With The Wind" "Stephen King Carrie" references

then again some of you are slow

Zen 10-07-2013 12:47 PM

I'm not pleased with mine either but it's probably because I think I'm getting sick. Fuck. My. Life.

Clutter Buck 10-07-2013 04:30 PM

dopesauce

ya I agree with Certain. adding an audio to your post is not really what this league is about. we are gonna have to say that is not allowed. but feel free to continue dropping them after the battle is closed like this week. im gonna give a listen in a few
