There have been 17 federal shutdowns, most recently in 95-96. That was also the longest, lasting 3 weeks.

They're really not blowing it outta proportion. They maybe blowing the impact it'll have on everyone out of proportion, but the fact is our politicians were elected and they didn't do their job. All of them should be fired immediately and this will be the new election year.

It's a huge blow, just for example my family doesn't get food stamps anymore. We are going to have 1 meal a day or 1 packet of mac N cheese a day if they don't figure this shit out. People will be going through malnutrition in a month if it's not resolved.

Government workers aren't being payed.
G.I. bills and veteran programs are shut down.

The only real program that is government operated and is going to stay open is like, the IRS.

But I havn't done much research only read a few articles and the news so it could be worst.

i will say that minimum wage is retardedly low.. have you seen McDonald's proposed weekly expenses for employees? you literally would have to live in the projects, put $15/week into savings, and work two other jobs just to survive without government aid.
