Where are we? (Split Eight and Certain)

SPLIT EIGHT
Symmetry abounds in the city street surroundings,
for now I live for me. Found between infinities, puddle-deep drowning ashore.
Loud for me is sound asleep, subtlety is a crowning mountain gorge.
I hear you crumbling as you called. My rearview is all fogged,
Crawled towards the backseat- before the crashing of orchestrated
aural cavity reports, catch these sharply aborted faces..
before their spirits will live on.
Mortally, fractally, distorted.
"I'm sure we'll make it." Actually or not.
It's more here, less it's gone.
its basic anatomy- inadequately recorded.
There's no meaning to court from de facto importance.
There's no fleeing the glimpse, manic photo rewardance.
Homo Too Sapiens, beating the spineless chimps
as glowing new radium displays (chromed cesium Timexes)
read a quarter toll, pay it forth, since each little change
is too late to delay. What time is it? Late. Sleep it away.
As a whole, the notion is violence-less,
but in its environement nature is as nature decides it is-
-I'm a man of many a modicum of non-inclinations.
Bad erotica finder comma odd fascinations, buyer-product of conglomeration,
Gattaca, monocoque carbon, fiber-optic exoneration.
Nice to be sad as-salamu alaykum. We all fall prey to our east.
And the night is silent enough. ZzzQuil, my voicemail has finally peaked.
So. Peaceful. These finer points... point to nil.
Still. To each.
Enlightenment has lightened up, gotten more hospitable
for all of u (sic) patience. Multi-omnivore autonomization.
Decay and degrade. The sign of things to come, riding the waves in,
Dry off your paws as you sink em in for any drops spilled in the basin.

CERTAIN
Apostle of complacence whose appositives are baseless.
After swallowing my patience, I'm Doctor Octagon stomping on blue flowers.
Give me OxyContin vapors for my nostrils as they bleed
into my obviously absorbent polycotton T-shirt.
I'm a Watchman with superpowers,
and my Target is the big box.
Harnessing the madness of touchscreen apolocalyptic Kid Rock
leaking through the asbestos into hardly guarded wigwams.
I'll take an orange soda-gin, mom. Mix it in my favorite cup
and add the tar and cocaine in while I sliver off to play with guns.
This emaciated vagrant knows breakfast ends at 10:30,
and lunch usually doesn't happen at all.
Slow drip. Sodium Pentothal. "I had the loneliest pedagogue.
She'd expose me to metacogs and hold me while getting off,
but I wasn't fucked until now."
The valium's in the fridge. The Magnum's in the cabinet.
The Trojan's stealing information from data on your tablet.
Saturn's rings are masking the lack of happiness in space
because we all know those fucking aliens are catalysts of rape.
She's a destroyer, like in Battleship the game,
with three holes to stick your peg in, and no passable escape.
But we're all aftermarket slaves, asking for a wage with no passion for the day.
And we can't exploit the rapture if we're captive to our pain.
So let's act as though we're brave instead of cuddling our sorrows.
Because the sun might not rise on one of these tomorrows.

This reads like something I might write if I even felt like trying! Split and Certain have both stomped me in topicals/writers league so you know I have mad respect. Split is an excellent poetical/conceptual writer. The trick is getting him to be himself and not trying to emulate another. He is dope as is. Certain this is the first open I have read from you and this was top tier. too many quotables, intelligent, conceptual, linking, and flow.

excellent post. votm potential. heart.

Geno 09-05-2013 06:47 PM

both verses were dope, thought split held up real nice whereas I'm usually not a fan of his writing lol. Ill shit split.

certain came in and murked it to.. this was a collab well done, a lot of qoutables.

Up

split.

I thought your 3 for lines

Quote:

Symmetry abounds in the city street surroundings,

Loud for me is sound asleep, subtlety is a crowning mountain gorge.
absolutely dope man. great start. great imagery in the first part of the verse I thought that shined the most for me...couple of lines felt forced or just didn't fit for me. the orchestrated line and the actually or not line..those felt weird for me..i think veritas said it best you have a real conceptual yet poetic slash abstract style...can I say this had very little flow lol..but that didn't matter you had the scheme and the vocab going so it didn't really matter for me...in the end your verse was cool man felt a bit too vague for me though..at times you seemed to just go off in no direction..but this shit was still some dope shit bro.

certain.

felt like you brought a more peaceful vibe to the collab...dunno split felt a bit sporadic but a good sporadic..felt the enrgy from his words..you came with a more laid back easy type of style...you didn't seem to stumble at all and the flow was just rivers of ill shit lol.. I mean the word choice was outstanding. felt like your direction was a bit easier to see for me..even though split had some ill imagery at times...you seemd to do it a bit better..

Quote:

But we're all aftermarket slaves, asking for a wage with no passion for the day.
some profound words.

CopyPat 09-06-2013 04:13 AM

wow.. im impressed

First off @whyse ways did innovator bite ur old sig??? ^^lol pretty sure u had this one a while back?

obviously the flowing rhyming scheming in this was top notch, complex, good vocab but smooth and didn't carry a multi so long that it got boring. so super sick to read. The content i kindof get it i think but i didn't really put too much thought into so im sure it's more intense than im giving it credit for at the moment but i did def enjoy the flow for sure ahaah.. stupid..

u 2 worked well on a collab together.. similar styles meshed well. this was a solid drop both of u

Thanks, y'all.

Split Eight's lines that contain odes to his city always stand out, you seem very passionate in a restrained sort of style writing about city-stuff. Actually, only disliked the middle part with the Homo Too Sapiens and Salaam Alaykum parts etc seemed like trying to be too witty, when the most effective parts were the begging with the city-scape and car descriptions and the ending with the voice-mail part.

Certain it seemed like a strong exercises in similar vowel-words. The first section emphasize the O like in the word hOp. It was very entertaining to read the different variations presented alongside the popculture and playful language. E.g., " into my obviously absorbent polycotton T-shirt." - it was very humorous in a strange kind of way. The battleship line also made me laugh.

SPLIT EIGHT, avante guard. Woodland Visine byzantine boyscout federation. MMMmmm thinkspeak proto-wagon tonic. I like when you group words together in an abstractly collaged thought. It reminds me of how science fiction (or just very expressive and figurative language) can mate with rhyme writing to produce something out of the ordinary. Your language can disorient before it rewards, similar to a number of sea creatures. They confound, or blind, and then as they swim away you notice the intri***y and the quality of their defense mechanism. For you, the illustrative mechanisms seem to be based on thought impulse, direct inspirational current, and a vision that thrills you as you filter it onto a page.

Dry off your paws as you sink em in for any drops spilled in the basin.
^This line is a bit of a mind twister, and I question if that was intended. Either way, I like the sensation of uncertainty I garner from it.

Uma Thurman's in bed, dressed like a goldfish, and through the glasshouse the ocean looks as it always has - antiseptic, wild, non-drinking water. I got the images of clocks, photography and chemical imbalance from this verse. Thanks for the thought provocation.

Certain - You dropped the motherload, and went off. Highly impressed by this. You warmed up in the beginning but really settled into artillery-mode with heavy wit at the end.

The valium's in the fridge. The Magnum's in the cabinet.
The Trojan's stealing information from data on your tablet.
Saturn's rings are masking the lack of happiness in space
because we all know those fucking aliens are catalysts of rape.

^Damn, boy.

I'm sorry I missed this until now. My sleeping tendencies are bound to halt. Right. Now. ish.

Keep doing boom

brokenhal0 09-18-2013 04:09 AM

fucking bananas

e11even 09-29-2013 06:14 AM

@Vulgar that was some bomb ass feed btw.

Split- Muthafuckin damn. I think this verse was phenomenally bizarre, and of exploding
thought. So many ideas and inlets of lyrical design just made this a wtf piece. I'm gonna
read this a few more times just to get that impression back again. Great vocab. That
second half was a killer.

"Nice to be sad as-salamu alaykum. We all fall prey to our east." <- i was like
"damn."

Certain- This was a piece that was closer to earth and something that I could grasp easier. Flowed well after the first few lines and really got into a functioning barrage of solid thoughts and well placed words. I really enjoyed the suggestions in the different argruments... felt like I was in a blunt cipher having fucked up conversations.

This emaciated vagrant knows breakfast ends at 10:30,

Slow drip. Sodium Pentothal. "I had the loneliest pedagogue.

<- fucking dope.

you guys inspire.

I read this a few days ago and really enjoyed it.

::Splitty:: You're style is so refined now.
Don't get me wrong, i love the reckless abandonment of your earlier work but this represents improvement in all area.

::Certain:: Don't think i'm familiar with your work but nicely done.

Loved the allusions.

Last four lines were beautiful

You both really went off on this with two completely different styles. Split you have the most weird unique off kiltered style I've ever seen but you make it work somehow. I really liked how you set the tone with this one

^^this part was bananas

Certain, don't know mm if I've read to much from you but what I have I liked. This was top notch, nice smooth easy read with a lot of great concepts and even better execution, not gunna quote from you because I started picking lines to quote and damn near quoted the whole thing lol.

Good stuff guys
