this is the only musician's death that has truly hurt me in this lifetime. my stance is always, i didn't really know them, whats the difference

but this doesnt feel like that

it sounds incredibly silly but this man helped raise me up. i never really understood how much until recently. i worshiped the music of dmx when i was barely old enough to know half of what he was talking about. and gradually you begin to realize and can reflect on some of the common threads spanning his career. charity/power/faith/hatred/struggle etc. i mean its a mixed bag. but it was all genuinely him. and because of that, it was also us.

idk what im trying to say but i've honestly been pretty sad the last week or 2. he said recently if he dropped dead, he could say he'd had a good life. thats strange for a guy so young to say. but i'm extremely glad that's how he felt
