Ever get scared of being called out for sports/band clothing?
 

I don't wear a lot of band clothing, but I do wear a decent amount of sports team clothing.

I have 3 t shirts of band clothing that I wear. Ones a sublime, the sun thing, so faded you can't even really see it. Another is an outline of ODB's face and thats all it is. Other is just the wu tang W with wutang in the middle.

Sports clothes/hats I've got a NY yankees hat.. I couldn't even name a single player. A KC royals hat, and a chiefs hat.. I Can name all the chiefs an my other hat in rotation is chicago blackhawks hockey team. I have that hat because I think it looks cool i like the indian thing. But I don't think in my entire life i've ever watched an entire hockey game.

I can rap word for word every single... maybe a few mess ups of all of wu-tang triumph and a ton more, but if I got put on the spot about names of songs and other shit I'd look like a fraud, which I'm not.

But I can't be the only one, wearing a yankees hat and if someone came up to you asking who the shortstop was you wouldn't know and look like a clown. I've never had that happen to me before, but i'm just waiting for the day. I Can't be the only one.

I thought Ouch had some legit reasons for this. Hooligans is a thing, and someone got beat up for wearing a really snobby brand where I grew up. Those would be legit concerns.

Yeah, where I live now you don't have to worry about that sort of thing I live in the boondocks.

But growing up especially, wearing a certain color of NY hat... or a certain teams logos there were tons of little mini gangs that only wore like obscure teams hats/clothes to show they were a part of the clique or whatever you want to call it. We pretty much knew all of who did that in our general area.


But yeah, I wear chiefs stuff because since I was a kid they were my team, for one reason or another. Back when they sucked majorly I just picked them because it was something different. Still wear chiefs apparel.

what prompted the thread was I had on a chiefs beanie and some dude was like.. oh you like them, really... (and I can name like 75% of the starting line up)... how many sacks did the outside linebacker have 3 years ago? Oh you like Wu-Tang? who was featured on track 4 of Raekwons 3rd album. Bitch I don't know, I just like them.

But yeah it doesn't stop me from wearing stuff. Now when I was a kid and the whole gang thing, yeah you'd be stupid to wear certain things.

Damn, was never any gangs where I grew up. Just knuckleheads and groupings of people. The Vietnamese, pakistanis, turks, somali, balkan peeps, some nazis, dealers etc. but nothing organized and people was never in fear for their lives unless they REALLY fucked up, and even then it's mostly just hospital.

Just a low income area that saw the richer parts of the city got shit refurbished while we got nothing. That led to a "fuck the rich" mentality and thus an unknown dude got beat up for wearing "rich kid brands", and you'd be singled out and bullied if you didn't wear baggy clothes or the "right" types of brand (flava, fubu, adidas, nike, skate brands or hand me down clothing). Silly cus some of those clothes were just as expensive but it was more about the statement rather than anything else.

Oslo is way worse in terms of that stuff but can't compare to the issues US is facing.
