I’m thinking we should be bringing back Text Crews for 2021.
 

I think its time; there aren’t many active ones roving the board currently but small teams of 4-5 people with a crew name each, maybe a little three word slogan or something, we could get them popping for both the topical and text battle sides where it would help generate some fresh punchlines, maybe some new rivalries and even make for some diss drops in the open mic etc

It could lead to a little “this crew vs this crew” type bullshit. I figure we should try it at least, and see what pops.

Crews are the gateway drug for voting rings.

I do like the concept, but Zuch's point about voting problems stands. Maybe if you capped crew size at 3/4. And you might have to ban same crew votes.

If you are actually going to do this, you might just want to have signups then assign the crews randomly and see what happens. Less likely to have bias issues and might have better parity to make things interesting.

Or better yet, pick crew captains and do a draft from signup list.


And to keep people motivated, could do a site diss competition to crown the best crew.

I think with enough participation it'd be pretty cool to do a league with team captains that draft battlers for each crew and then pit them against each other to see who wins the most battles throughout the season with divisions and rankings. obviously crew members cant vote for each other. We could probably find a way to make it inclusive for both battles and topicals

I was gonna do a league before where it was just a panel of judges...3 or 5. They wouldn't participate in battling and their opinion would have to be relevant

I don't think there is many people for a full crew line up, it starts to get messed up when everyone is in the same crew, and more than one, not to mention the dickriding but that happens anyway lol.

it would be dope though if we can make it happen, only if you can only be in one crew at a time though.
