Home Recording Software/Setup
I didn't want to get too in-depth, I'm not going to use it a ton but I'm going to get a decent mic setup and wanted some opinions... it's really just to record some garbage for a few friends and random other things...
Option 1: Blue Yeti w boom arm/shock mount/pop filter Option 2: Shure SM58 w 2i2 interface/desk stand/pop filter Option 3: Rode NT1-A w 2i2 interface/boom/shock mount/pop filter Is there any actual reason to buy Pro Tools or is Audacity going to do everything I need? Thoughts? |
use a Pen15

aston spirit.. the longer syled design they have.. its the most expensive, yet efficient mic that you could buy in stores.. I bought one recently from guitar center.. they told me its the hottest mic in the market, and when I used it for the first time, the quality was like no other..

Pen15

Gotta agree Pen15 is where it's at.

If you ain't going to get too serious Audacity will work. If your going to run a mic with a focusrite interface they usually come with a basic protools set up that would be better than Cool edit though.

For voice? I rarely record voice, but for some speaking, some acoustic instruments, an sm57 has done great. I'd use a 58 if I were serious about recording vocals.
Lot of decent cheap interfaces out there. I use a behringer uphoria that gets the job done pretty well |
Reason 10 can record and produce all your own beats and has thousands of sounds and tons of instruments ans samplers. Its the most robust bang for your buck.

just get something like a Audio-Technica AT2020, and a cheapo interface. the focusrite is solid tho and only 150 bucks.
i've had the shure stage mic, i had a shure condensor mic too that was like 400 bucks. the audio technica was better than them both lol. at least for just recording clean vocals in an untreated room doing rap stuff with rap friends |
You better call Peter Quistgard
|
Corelone recommends the pen15 . Killa bee version

I didnt know shure made $400 mics lol sm58 the $100 master race |

The audio technica for 100 bucks was better. I think the shure was too sensitive. Couldn't have any type of cables touching any ambient sounds etcetc |

ah, that it explains it
I hate vocalists and block out anything they touch thanks for the clarification gang |

I love when people talk about audio equipment on the internet and enter from left field random guy talking about a $200+ mic like it's a low-budget option... lol... it's a microphone for a computer desk bruh...
Thanks to the people that gave input... it was taken into consideration |
