NBL Season XIV Rules Due Dates: • Verses are due FRIDAY by 11:59 PM PST. • Voting ends MONDAY ideally • Battles that lack votes may close later. • One sided battles may get closed early. • Extensions are 24 hours, anything longer is a DQ and/or Double DQ • To avoid issues, you are encouraged to PM me your verse in advance Line Limit: • Min. = 14 lines • Max. = 20 lines • The max. can be higher if different is agreed upon by both. This battle was a close one for me, but I saw 4 to 3 that were quotable, with Answer getting LOTB with the disabled dude shit. Neigh spent some of his time going through the phase of gun bars and flex stuff. Some of it was interesting, but most didn't hit too hard for me. It got really interesting in the second half though, where he was berating Answer a bit. Answer had stuff sprinkled throughout his verse, and the lines where he was sort of bagging on himself to hurt Neigh more were very interesting to me. Disabled dude caught me off guard, and I actually laughed out loud, while his other bar I quoted about him fucking Neighbor's chick was impeccable with the wording. I think that's what set the two off in this match-up, as Neigh's wording was great for a few bars, but the main attack was a bit lackluster for most punches. In Answer's bars, we got more flawless wording, while he attempted to go directly after Neighbor, opting to only use a few gun/flex bars sprinkled throughout. All in all, this was a dope read and should be match of the week. |
This is tough.
I don’t mean to be disrespectful at all, because I guess it’s a style issue, but in various places, I thought both verses had lines that were waaay too long. You can’t drop back to back 20+ syllable lines and have any kind of fluency to them... Even in text, there’s no way those flow at all. If you go with a super long line, it needs to be preceded and succeeded by a short line. That said, both guys had some very cool concepts... and generally stayed away from the weird and awkward wordplay that I’ve seen in various other battles on here In the last couple days. I think Answer had the nod slightly in terms of originality/wittiness. But, both had some really nice lines/ideas. This was one of the better battles I’ve seen on here so far. So, cheers to that. But, Answer won, IMO. |
I liked now Wave started but felt like he lost that energy at the end. Example and peripheral were my fave. Answer was consistent from intro to out to.
