Anybody here that owns a jeep. Step inside..
..so i have an 02 grand cherokee laredo. But thats besides the point. Love my jeep so far.
Have any of you experienced what they call the "death wobble? If so, what was your experience like and were you able to diagnose where it was coming from? Did you get it fixed? Ik it it has to do with the suspension.. Track bar, pitman arm, tie rods, control arms, bushings and bearings, all those things are parts of suspension and what not. What did your end up being caused by Just curious |
I have a Jeep but it’s from this decade so never heard of the death wobble
|
Have a Jeep
Shit was wobbling like a mofo the other day but that’s because 4 out of 5 of my lug studs had snapped. Rode home on one, and made it Had to pound out the broken ones and seat new ones Left the one that made it because he’s a goddamn hero |

Lol. Jeeps of this decade suffer it as well bro. Just read about a 2013 that had it. NO ONES SAFE!!!!
Id never heard of it until last night either.. This is it.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xOaa-1p5ww |
I have a jeep.... 2004 liberty... and I think I might know what you're talking about, one of the first posts that I posted on this site was about this...
between like 45-50 the thing kind of rattles which is kind of disconcering but mine has the OD thing on the shifter.. so when it does that I click that on, so you wonder like, is it the transmission.. nah.. not in my case...I know a little bit about cars.. more than the average person i'd guess., but I took it to someone who should know more than me and said one of my cylinders wasn't firing, its a 4... and we put a 'pack' into it, didn't do anything... but i've been driving that thing for 4 years bought it for like 3500, its still running great... on the highway its smooth as fuck.. 194k miles on it |
the 4 wheel high, 4 low works.. the radio doesn't and only one speaker does... but yeah that is the best car i've ever had in my life, still going... when you fuck with used cars its always a toss up... when I was younger I got this hyaundai sonata... 2001 I think it was.. when i was a somewhat kid... and fine.. like 4.5k is what I paid, something called the crankshaft possistion sensor went out... which was like 1.5k... no insurance or wahtever straight cash.. I paid it.. shit went out again FUCK
|
the first car I ever actually owned... or I should say was bought for me, but my first car was a 1994 ford thunderbird and that thing was awesome... it was lx 4.6 liter i think.. and that thing ran for a loong time.... but now that I think about it, my jeep liberty might actually be better

That’s not great |
yea when i first bought mine i thought it had it so i'm familiar
mine luckily just needed a new steering stabilizer, which i actually put on myself and felt like a fucking man lmao. but word my shit shook a little and took turns kinda roughly, the steering stabilizer solved it though. i got a 2000 cherokee. i keep wanting to get rid of it and cop something nice for once but it just runs way too good so i keep pushing it im at like 148k. |
I feel you. Mines getting a stabilizer and a tie rod. Doing it monday
|
the stabilizer was simple enough to install, but i also had the body shop tools to help, if i remember right it was basically like two nuts, but one end goes through a hole in like the axle or some shit. im mechanically retarded. but yea the end that went through the hole was really stuck in there, but since i had the air hammer thing i was able to bust it out. the new one slid right in and put the two nuts on bing bang boom. brand new.
tie rods and ball joints etc all are a nightmare tho i hate working on my own shit. coincidentally enough im taking mine to get the brakes done tomorrow and oil change etc |
Werd. I did tie rods on my last car. The alignment is whats over my head. Did control arm on my subaru.. Bent the fuck out of it.. Lmao driving where i shouldnt have been. But ya man. The stabilizer sounds straight forward enpugh. Im letting the shop do it. I dont like getting dirty under vehicles no more. Fuck that shit. About 350 for thhe stabilizer tie rod and alignment al together so i aint pressed. Shit that aint bad for real.

yall niggas are disregarding what I've said though... I have a 2004 jeep liberty.. I don't know the exact milage but around 180k... the thing is a champ
when it goes between 45.. and 55 it shakes, before that it doesn't after that it doesn't. I took it to some guy and they said it was one of the pistons wasn't firing. I'm not a huge car guy, but I know the difference between the transmission slipping, and let a lone something on the physical frame.. I've by hand put in ball joints.. not on this car but others.. and I don't consider myself some mechanic... if you hear the pop pop pop, check the ball joints out |
and if the alignment is fucked up
|

You need your bearings checked. Does it howl at those speeds? Idk what type of shaking your talking. Death wobble is the worst shaking ive ever experienced. But f its mild you probably just need your suspension items fixed. Especially at that mileage im sure the parts down there are worn and way over due for replacement |
its impossible for me to me able to explain it... the jeep has 150k miles on it... and where I live ( mid michigan ) you really need something with a 4 wheel drive.. like I dont live out in the middle of the woods or anything, but where im at my jeep.. I try to run up upone time just to try.. and the tires spin and its all fucked up.... I put it in 4 high... I go out like nothing
|
I have no idea what any of that means. Is that english?
|
the jeep liberty is like the ford tauras
|
brush up on ya english
