I've been gradually reducing my drinking, from 1 half gallon/2 days to 1 half gallon/7 days. With alcoholism, quitting suddenly can kill you, so it had to be done this way.

Well, i ended up with an infection in my mouth, but that's about it. it's just swollen right now, but would def become an abscess if left alone. so now I'm on antibiotics.

Antibiotics means I can't drink for the next 8 days. It will certainly be the longest I've gone without drinking in about 8 years.

It's only certain antibiotics you can't drink with.

Drinking makes you feel so good

Word. Technically I can drink on this one (amoxicillin). also taking 800mg of ibuprofen tho. but na. drinking while sick doesn't help my immune system

My brother is an alcoholic, he was rushed to hospital not so long ago and could have died, he's been off it now for 15 weeks, and he's already looking and feeling like a new person. Once they stay off it for a few weeks some people get a sense of pride from that fact and it pushes them to keep going. On the flip side my Dad was also an alcoholic, tried to quit many times but just couldn't...he didn't want to do it enough, and he died when he was 47.

Really it always comes down to do you want that buzz or do you want to live? You're the only person who can answer that.

Nah Immo... i've looked it up before... thats a myth that drinking lessens the strength of antibiotics.

I'd heard that all my life and never cared because I didn't drink anyway, but when I did drink all the time I looked it up and its a myth. Still not a bad idea to stop drinking though.

And actually if you've been drinking that much you shouldn't stop drinking cold turkey, unless you have some benzos.

Just get some 8% gross ass natty daddy 24's and when you start feeling super weird drink one. It would be a lot safer than quitting competely if your tolerance is up to that much, antiobiotics or not. But I'm sure you already know that.

Do you, but I've had DT's before while trying to quit drinking and its not good. While wide awake just looking around and having a hard time processing what was there. Like looking at the window and it was a pole, but for a split second it looked like a person standing there. Or laying in bed and hearing what sounded like a muffled song/radio/tv on in the other room, but there was nothing on.

I'm 90% sure I've had seizures while sleeping too, don't know for sure because no one was around.

Stopping drinking cold turkey like that is way more of a medical risk, if you drink as much as you say, than an abcess tooth.

yea i know all that. ive been an alcoholic for a decade now. i know all the terms and all that shit, yeehaw!

didn't stop cold turkey. i tapered for 2 months before this day came.

yesterday is the first time that i've gone without drinking for 24 hours in....years. except that one stint in jail which really fucked me with withdrawals.

Yeah i'm pretty bad, not horrible though.. I rarely drink liqour anymore... I used to drink popov like it was water... now I just drink a million high % alcohol beer and buy 24 packs of budweiser to use it as nothing.. just makes me pee a lot

i dont wanna get 100% sober i just dont wanna be blackout drunk 24/7. im fine with being blackout drunk every night instead

a lot of it comes down to vitamins and diet too. like a dude who only eats liquid bread vs a dude who eats hearty healthy dinners and shit every night. big difference there. people can't tell i'm an alcoholic until i start shitposting IRL. i look healthy, mind is still all there for the most part lol
