That shit's on youtube red tomorrow. Some of yall who live in civilization may have already seen it in theaters, but the rest of us battle rap fans who don't live near a city with an opioid epidemic have been waiting for this moment for a while.
I heard it's gonna be on itunes, too. They really should've done it direct to netflix though, imo. Would've been much better promotion for a movie that's been getting pretty good reviews across the board and has the potential to rejuvenate interest in battle rap (it won't though) in case you haven't seen the trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUry7CpMpCE |
why didn't they just get lush1 to be lush1 ....weirdos
I hate everything about this tho I hate the concept of nerdy white kid conquering the black dominated hip hop culture legit dogshit angle of course Eminem produced it which is why but cringe the only reason to watch this is the battles and even those look like they will be garbage ....ill just peep smack battles if I want to feed my live hip hop battle jones the actor for this is fucking horrible and these washed up grindtime guys don't deserve this platform...smack has emerged as the voice of the culture by far and wide as far as the background plot of racial inequality being viewed through the lens of a middle class white kid being oppressed by the culturally biased black community involved with the underground hip hop battle community ? legit laughable wont be peeping |
Ill check it out
Only because i have youtube red tho and they havent made anything i wanted to watch since cobra kai. But word im sure its terrible lol |

It’s not that serious just enjoy the movie. You’re on a website that wouldn’t exist had it not been for 8 mile, the nerve. |
say the word aero ill take u off here today forever
|
I'm definitely still gonna watch it, but I kinda agree with a lot of the points ghost made. Except Lush 1 cause Lush 1 is the personification of cringe. I'll definitely try to keep a critical eye on that perspective, though
also yeah, youtube's premium service is trash. I downloaded the trial specifically for this movie and figured I'd look for some other things they offer. It's pretty much all basura. Mind field or whatever is cool, even though they're kinda just replicating all of the most cliche psychology experiments in existence. Nothing else has seemed even remotely watchable and it's unorganized as shit |
Cobra kai is dope
I only have it because i despise ads and most of what i watch is on youtube anyways. I keep netflix hulu and hbo for my pops At this point i might as well have cable tho ive got so many 10 dollar a month services it doesnt make sense But yea youtube red is worth it for no ads alone |

Just watched it earlier. (Btw YT premium offers a free month)
I liked it ...if for nothing else, the battles/cameos and there were a few funny scenes that made me LOL. Also the reimagining of real life events in battle rap was funny as well. |
[SPOILER ALERT]
Cons: I do concur with Ghost's point still about the subject matter of a nerdy white dude making some kind of miraculous underdog come up in the battle scene is overdone, and the movie didn't do much to break out of that cliche imo. I also thought the ending was lame and made no sense. The acting was okay, not the best. The battle scenes were cool, but weren't entirely realistic. There were also a couple of moments in the movie that are straight up corny e.g. some "you fucked my girl? Nah I'm not gonna fight you, we're gonna settle this in a rap battle like real men" shit. The fuck? Pros: Shit was funny at times. Some of the bars were ok actually, but there was a lot of trash, too. It's cool to see a lot of battlers & rap dudes get incorporated. I liked that they included an outside narrative that highlights racism, white appropriation, homophobia, etc. in battle rap. Even the perspective of battling someone you're cool with and the struggle with personals is relatable to me as a writer, but I don't really feel like it had any real point, and there's no real character development anywhere. I haven't seen anyone that watched the movie really talk about those topics as a whole Overall its a cool watch for people who are fans of battle rap. Dunno if I'd recommend it to too many people with no interest |
Im not interested in this at all tbh. If it aint em vs joey then idc about hiphop currently. Fuck it
|
i'm ten minutes in and i can't tell if this has passed the line in being so terrible that its good, like its so terrible that watching it is enjoyable to see just how bad it is, like the room, or if its just terrible, as in terrible.
very cringey. they've already got a white kid writing a thesis on who can say the n-word and a white feminist chick talking about misogyny etc, then they had the corniest white dude ever come out to try and battle with high waters and shit this is HORRENDOUS LMAO |
I basically only go on YouTube to watch The Ricky Gervais show over and over. I have probably seen every episode 5 times. Karl Pilkington is my spirit animal.
