Oatmeal's Read of the Week
A lot of interesting things I read this week. Matt Taibbi wrote a searing piece of Donald Trump's sanity in Rolling Stone (shoutout to @uh-oh), another good one about the connection between being a victim and a perpetrator of violence. But given the recent events and my geographic location, I went with this:
https://koreaexpose.com/north-korea-...y-not-problem/ North Korea: Brother, Enemy, Not My Problem This does a great job explaining the relationship dynamics between North and South Korea, from a South Korean perspective. It traces a lot of history and how perceptions have changed over time. |
A lot of this I was aware of as I had to do a paper on this conflict my freshman year of college. But was still a good read and the part I quoted I found interesting because in my research almost, 4 years ago now, I don't remember finding what the part said that I quoted. Crazy not sure I even researched their constitution was just more focused on the grade at that time I guess.
"Officially, unification, i.e. annexation, is the ultimate goal for each Korean state. In fact, the constitution of South Korea doesn’t even recognize the North as a separate state, seeing the whole Korean Peninsula as the South’s territory. (It’s also the legal justification for accepting North Korean defectors, who are, if we extend the logic of territoriality, South Korean citizens.)" Again nice read thanks |
I say nuke them all.
