So i start at 3M on monday 18th

.. Apparently my Ged test results changed the game for me. I did pass in a very high percentile for md test takers, figured it would change their interests in me a bit. They will be starting me at a better position making considerably more than they had originally offered me. Im stoked. This has been the longest hiring process ive ever gone through to get a job. Reason being they were having a hard time validating weather my GED existed or not. So it took a whole nother 2 weeks just to send out for my transcripts and recieve them through the mail. Smh. Crazy. But this is great news Gs. Just thought id share the update on progress.

Geno 09-12-2017 05:03 PM

Thank you sir.

uh-oh 09-12-2017 06:10 PM

good shit

im amazed they actually looked into it. i also scored in the highest percentile of the GED and now i'm thinking they just tell everyone that lol.

but word i don't know where my certificate is or where it exists in a database

but yo i use numerous 3m products on a daily basis. mainly tapes and SUCH

Geno 09-12-2017 07:17 PM

Ya man. This supposed to bethe largest 3m tape manufacturer in north america. This particular plant. Pretty excited tbh

My transcripts reflect my scores and percentiles. I sucked at social studies. But still passed above the acceptable mark. Math science and language arts. (Reading/comprehension) im all above average percentiles. Writing i fell in the average zone but close to being above.

Amen 09-13-2017 02:45 PM

2-3-2 flex schedule. Typical hours for a Manufacturing facility.

is it union or non union? Most are union and utilize the teamsters union.

Good shit, bro and good luck.

Finnydot 09-13-2017 03:19 PM

Man.. 8 hour shifts can be rough some days. 12 hours would be torture. But them 3 days off in a row would be dope.

uh-oh 09-13-2017 06:31 PM

hopefully whatever you end up doing you can utilize headphones

thats my lifeline on sanity. i have the same mudblood in my veins as most dirt people, the only way i keep my job is through 8 hours a day of podcasts and SUCH.

im at 48 hours so far this week, still got tomorrow and friday. my checks gonna be glorious. the detailer at my shop quit so we've had 2 new dudes and they're just slowing everything down learning, so i've been taking advantage and snagging extra hours keeping the shop moving

but word i recommend getting comfy with your day to day duties and putting in earbuds as much as possible to break up the monotony

when you got a 4 hour podcast on deck thats interesting you'll be caught up in it and realize when its over so is a huge chunk of your day

although it works both ways. a bunch of 1 hour podcasts. you get through one like wordd nice only to realize only an hours gone by lol

2tripple0 09-14-2017 12:39 PM

Most manufactures ban the use of cell phones and head phones due to audibles on the machines. Before leaving OSHA - I remember being involved in the process of generating a no cell phone use in the work place regulation because it's a distraction for those operating industrial machinery. You have no idea how many incidents were reported on a annual basis because of cell phones. I mean severe incidents such as near fatalities, limbs severed/amputations, etc...

uh-oh 09-14-2017 05:56 PM

word i can believe it. my boy smashed his hand at some zinc factory? they made some weird parts out of zinc or some shit, press a button, it opens a machine, you place a block of it on the thing, press a button and the doors close and smash the thing into the shape or whatever.

but word he closed the doors on his hand. not phone/earbud related, he was just a dummy. but he lost his pointer finger and most of his right hand is a curled up mess. just smashed his shit FLAT. bone disintegration and shit.

i figure if its a job with ear protection you should be able to have headphones though. i get it can be distracting, but word.
