I mean...I feel u, but I think the article makes a point about the camera being the most dangerous aspect about it. The government can't be so flagrant about things like this because there are too many technologically apt people who are in essence smarter than those working for the government. So if they catch a whiff of the government doing this without any regard for our rights they'll be up in arms and a national scandal won't be avoided. The government has to find legal loopholes to cover their own ass.

The govt can access your phone no matter what. Even if it's off. Your microphone can power on all by itself and listen and transmit anywhere without you knowing.

Patriot act. But this was like early 2000's.

Just like the NSA shit about the Xbox, it's like... "duh".

uh-oh 07-12-2016 12:07 PM

Yea but this is you giving permission. If the government hacked your phone you could fight it in court, theyd need to spend the money to get the warrants/permissions to do so

Unless you are a terror suspect, but you wont get a date in court if thats the case.

Following a lack of Congressional approval, parts of the Patriot Act expired on June 1, 2015.[5] With the passage of the USA Freedom Act on June 2, 2015, the expired parts were restored and renewed through 2019.[6] However, Section 215 of the law was amended to stop the National Security Agency from continuing its mass phone data collection program.[6] Instead, phone companies will retain the data and the NSA can obtain information about targeted individuals with permission from a federal court.[6]

The phone companies are still storing the shit. The govt just needs the warrant or whatever.

So if you say "YO I GOT THIS NEW PACK OF HEROINE COMING IN NEXT WEEK" even if your phone is off, they can still send that to the NSA and get you hemmed up.

uh-oh 07-12-2016 12:27 PM

You would have to be a targeted individual and the nsa would then have to acquire that info. Heroin isnt necessarily a national security issue unless you are buying it from isis lol. The point being the government would have to have a reason and what you posted is concerning metadata, not access to your phone itself

By using this you are giving access to everything on your phome including the camera, so while youre looking for charizard if there are enslaved children in the background the company that made the app can send that info/evidence to authorities legally and it can be used against you

Witty 07-12-2016 03:48 PM

Inno 07-12-2016 04:45 PM
