I've never listened to anything by Mac Miller. Macklemore is really dope, imo. I don't understand how someone could not like him. He's honest in his music, which is refreshing in a climate of constant one upping and facades. He's talking about actual issues, as opposed to rapping about who the best rapper is, why he's a better rapper, how he used to sell lots of drugs etc. etc. All that normal cliche bullshit that rappers regurgitate out of habit. I love baseball, so his song My Oh My is really dope, to me. It's easily relatable. His flow is unorthodox and so is his wording, but again, it's that deviation that makes it interesting. Typical heads won't like it, because they think they aren't supposed to. Dude sounds too happy to be cool.

I hated Asher Roth when he first came out. Hate that College song. A lot of his shit is just hand crafted free flow shit, though. He has intricate schemes and talks about, again, things that your typical rapper doesn't. Which is probably why I like him. He's a lyricist, that isn't typical.

Another thing about Macklemore is he's good at making songs. Creating an atmosphere. That track about shoes. The chorus. The way he builds momentum through a song. He's good at playing on emotions, which is a sometimes lost talent for rappers.

For whoever said he was preachy... 2 Pac was preachy.

Mac Miller surprised me this last year. His album, watching movies with the sound off is worth checking out for the production value ALONE (mac miller produced a decent amount of it too) I swear the production on that album is the best so far of this year.

As far as his rapping goes... He's gotten better, and he's executing more technical rhyme schemes. His laid back flow and tone works against him at times.

These are some of my favorite songs by him.

LISTEN TO THIS ONE. IT IS A YES OATS, A YES.

Every time Mac Miller goes on a track with another rapper, he gets outshined. I've heard both those songs, Figurative, and Ab-Soul and Jay Electronica are better.
