damn man. i guy needs some income ..

ive been working on a lot of different sites that are similar to soundcloud but offer artists such as myself opportunitoes to have your music placed in movies and television. you have to of course take a few steps to get your music heard which obviously costs a little bit. but man. i have two problems.

a) no extra income
b) my production, as we all know -as far as mixing and mastering goes just isnt professional quality enough to even consider paying to have one of my tracks put in a serious label in front of people who are deciding weather or not to place my songs in a movie or whatever.

basically im just venting to you guys. i really feel like if i had the right amount of time and the right team of producers and mixiers and shit i would have a fair chance at getting my shit bought by someone. at least one track or something. i really could use a few quick thousand bucks for a song. but realistically im not good enough. i think my talents are good enough. i just dont feel like my technical shit is good enough.

anyway. whats up yall. im just trying to find new grinds and different formulas for getting into this business. what the fuck yall up to tho

Have you tried befriending all the producers in your town? My suggestion would be to join Twitter and start mass-networking. You never know what might happen or what generous offer might pop up in relation to free or discount production. I'm not an expert though.

I'm cool, been trying to get established in the journalism realm. I'm just as competitive as I am on here but my work-rate and productivity isn't up to par with it...

What's your current job?

This is my problem. I generally have great ideas for songs but after i record i tend to lose focus and want to move on to the next song before its 100%. Hazards of recording solo. You gotta jump out the booth, restart it, go back in, repeat, add ad libs, effects, keep it all the same level, blah blah blah. I got like 20 songs that are 80% listenable because i want to move on so quickly. When i get my shit back im gonna be much more thorough, lord willing

You should get into making beats. My e-homie dc places beats all the time. If you watched any tv in the last 10 years and heard a random beat in the background there is a solid chance he did it. Alot of vh1 and mtv shows to random commercials and etc. I can only get placed on like youtube channels and shit because they arent strict about sampling copyrights and shit. Thats how i can sell shit to the ride channel and shit like that. But he does alot of original shit and works with musicians to make quick 10-20 second beats that vibe.

Its way harder to place a song with someone actually rhyming on it.

Also you cant be concerned with making money. That kills everything. The only goal you should have is to make incredible shit and get better.

Also you should just learn to mix. Im in the same boat. My mixing is terrible. Taking the time to learn to mix would be beneficial and i know i should i just dont give a fuck really. I just like making beats for fun. When people buy shit its not cuz im shopping it. They stumble across it and like it and offer or they download and use it anyways.

If you like making music just make it. Instead of expecting people to pay you for your music you should be spending money to get better. Buy equipment. Buy dvds and shit teaching you shit. Invest in your craft.

Werd objective. Im a lot like you inbthe hurry up and start a new joint aspect. @uh-oh i feel you man. I was never ever ever concerned about the money and i still arent when it comes to making shit. I just have recently gotten into a couple other websites such as musicxray.com which you should check out man.. that are constantly sending me emails that have opportunities like sendibg samples to rocnation for fabs new album. His shit got pushed back because there havi g trouble clearibg some sames and hes looking for clearable shit. Or maybach music wantibg to sign urban talent.. ever since i started gettibg these options the money aspect has been weighing in and its not that impkrtant per say.. it would just be really nice if i was that slick with my production to get something in there. I get like ten or so different opportunities a day and they all vary from the ki d of stuff your boy does to actually getting signed or even just becoming a member in a group thats willing to teach.. im considering tryibg for that to learn more about my production. I know dopeness is possible with garageband.. its just how much money you put into things like your mic and so on.

Someone asked what im doibg for work. Still doibg waste treatment facility construction.. buildig shit plants. We just finished building a water recycling cdnter at the naval academy in annapolis md and are trying to clear permits to start another similar job at fort meade also in md. So im laid off u til were cleared to break grou d and stary excavating. This is why im tryibg to focuss on my music as much as i can before my time to do is less cause im workibg again. I wanna drop at least 5-6 more "good" tracks becore i lose my chance so i have something to work with.
