Mercedes C450 AMG

Was all set on a 335... And then I drove this all new monster.

It was like meeting the Ninja Turtles as a kid.

So much fucking fun.

I havent seen one of these yet but we had a similair ish one in the shop it was a 2012 tho. Not sure what model exactly. Pretty ridiculous. It was totaled and the russians did there own illegal bodywork and just had us paint it so they could ship it overseas and sell it where there isnt structural damage laws and shit.

But word if you copped this good shit. Personally its a little too sporty/subaruish looking i wouldve went for something more luxury/old man worthy but its all luxury inside with benzes

Props

I dont get it man. Usually youre on it but im lost.

Youre comparing a mid 300 hp awd mercedes thats been dubbed 3/4 of a c63 amg to basically a base model bmw that may be rwd or may br awd. If you comparing it to like an s4 i would understand, or more like a 5 series awd but its an entirely different thing. Of course youre gonna like it more than the rich mans honda civic (the 335)

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. a 335 (now 340) m sport w/ DH and track package is absolutely in the same class as the C450

I do.

Incase i was wrong i looked around and coyldnt find anywhere with a quick search that didnt say the 335 wasnt a 3 liter 300 hp/ ftlb machine...and with the m package its a 332 or 317 ftlb depending on stick or not. While that gets close to #s that the amg starts at its stilljust bmws inline six that theyve been doing for years.

Whereas the mercedes engine/drivetrain is more in every sense. I dont see how they are too comparable outside "six cylinder european cars."

And realistically outside the 328 the 335 is pretty bottom barrel for new bmws

I know theres the 320 but at least that tries to accomplish fuel economy

You're showing your lack of actual experience.

BMW severely underrates their HP/TQ. The published numbers are typically accurate at the wheel, not the crank. I drove both back to back since Mercedes is literally across the street from BMW here (which is hilarious for schadenfreude of the salesmen when I tell them where I just visited). Actually, the 340 (replaces the 335 in 16 MY) does have a new 6 - the B58 replaces the outgoing N55. I've heard mixed things but never drove the N55 so can't compare directly.

A 335 or 340 M package w/DH is 3/4 of an M3 the same way the C450 is 3/4 of a C63.

The spartan interior of the BMW turned me off, though. The F30 needs a refresh ASAP. Yeah, COMAND sucks compared to iDrive, but good lord is the driving experience night and day inside.

I wish I could track both to really push the respective suspensions.. despite offering 5 different adjustments on the Merc, I have a feeling the 2 (or is it 3?) on the BMW win every category.

That instant torque from the BiTurbo in the C450 Sport+ Mode though.. definitely felt lag on the low end of the BMW that was nonexistent in the C450.

TBH I really want this thing I optioned but the XEs don't reach our shores til May at the earliest :(:(:(:(

May buy out my car and keep it til then in the interest of fairness to Jaguar lolol

Seriously though, the XE is a 3-series murderer and a ridiculous value - here's the options I put together. That price tag is absurdly low for all of that compared to BMW and Merc.. Jag has come a long way away from the days of Ford ruining them:

I personally feel like the 447b handles better with it's ProAmp 500 intake paired with that V12 Gorgiomachi piston plate. Word to Darin Danger.
