Confessions: Driving 101.

She was pregnant and I was stupid.
22, just learning how to do shit.
One afternoon, we're out for a cruise and
We decided on Quiznos for that food fix.
The shop was on the town border, before the highway.
Arguing about my driving since the driveway.
Stop here's and drive slower's got me irate
So shouting matches got us hotter than a fireplace.
I proved her wrong, now I'm pulling in nice.
Not a scratch or ticket, but I'm still on thin ice.
Still faking the funk like I know how ta drive
When we know I couldn't get a permit if I tried.
Easing in, the wheels press the car stop with a kiss.
I glance over cockily like I'm the shit.
She acknowledges with approval, and just then I slip.
Instead of pressing the brake, I floor it to shit.
The compact jumps the stop, skirts the sidewalk,
Narrowly misses a bystander, slams glass and drywall.
The aluminum frames scrape, crystals and shards fall.
The impact sickening, unreal! We're in the salon's hall.
Shaken and stirred, I looked over at her.
Seeing the worry and disappointment, asked her was she hurt.
Shaking her head, she said very few words.
I escorted her out and we sat on the curb.
Press coverage, police and witnesses, I cry like a bitch.
"My life is done. I'm going to jail." I repeat again and again.
My military career hangs in the balance, I might just get kicked.
Just then the owner says they won't press charges against.
What the hell... 20,000 in damages and I'm in the clear?
The next year, however, I refuse to drive, still in fear.
Every brief the chiefs give, I'm in the anecdotal jeers.
"Don't ever get on the road with this fucking queer!"

solid as fuck great action and imagery. very effective writing.
20000 in damages was a little awkward in the middle of it. makes me 100% sure this actually happened. did it? jw. flow was pretty sick too. clean little piece.
