English poetry is terrible by definition.
 

I'm sorry, but it's true. English is a harsh, non-poetic language, and it's not cut out for metaphors, gentle rhyming, or any of that shit - even in the hands of a master poet. Ancient Arabic poetry sounds better than anything in English, even though (or maybe because) you probably can't understand it.

English is a language suited to aggression, wordplays, expansive vocabularies - i.e. technical rap battling, and - to some degree - topicals. People who write poetry in English should quit and learn another language.

I find the Arabic language is very backwards.

They do have a different word order than English, but their poetry is actually pretty beautiful. This is mainly due to the lack of ridiculous consonant clusters. Native English speakers tend to be unaware of just how many absurd clusters we have in our language.

indeed. definitely an outdated troll technique. i think lars posted a template a couple years ago. the template was based on a "know it all," that spoke lowly of people's creativity and intelligence levels over a few paragraphs. littered within the paragraphs were misspellings of commonly misspelled words. like their, they're and there types of words.


given that formula, you get this thread. go to an english speaking board of poets and rappers, and tell them poetry in the english language is trash.

95% to the meaning a reader can pull out of it
