DO HORROR MOVIES CAUSE VIOLENCE/PSYCHOPATHIC TENDENCIES?

Bags questioned how many chicken-fucking, dog shit eating, sodomy, torture scat porn I films I could watch before the inevitable killing of my wife surfaces. So I'm down to play:

Can anyone name any horror movie that has been shown to have been a contributing factor in any act of violence?

Or deserving of being withheld from General viewing for fear of being a possible catalyst for such an act?

I cannot think of any.

But here are a few well documented examples of media that played a major part in the delusions of some of history's most abhorrent crimes...

Ian Brady (the moors murder) constantly listened to the comedy radio show "The Goons", with Spike Milligan and Peter Sellers. Should that be banned for his crimes?
Charles Manson listened intently to The Beatles Album "Helter Skelter". Ban it?
And last but far from least, a book that has shown to have beyond any doubt to have been responsible for mass murder, torture, rape, and genocide throughout the centuries...The Bible!
Are Christians monsters? Are music lovers monsters?
Then why should people who enjoy the horror genre be classed as such!

So are guns responsible for murders or the people who use them?

this isn't the topic????

but I'll bite.

The people wielding the gun are obviously responsible.

However, many people wouldn't / couldn't commit said murders if they did not have access to said guns.

I'd say no, at least in the regard that it is certainly not a rule, some people may have some dark part of their psyche triggered by it, but that theory is by no means conclusive, evidence is very weak. It's a mental illness, if you suffer from that illness you have the potential to do horrific things whether you watch violent movies or not.

In short, it may push some ppl to indulge in desires or urges that already exist, but I don't think it creates those urges in people who are right minded.

for all the bad stuff he mentioned.

I would say that you would have to agree that Lars was wrong and that it was people who used it malevolently. Yes?

I can think of 2 particular books that seem to influence the deranged..
1. Obv. Catcher in the Rye.
2. The Collector, strange story about Obv. dude that collects shit, but its weird.

no murders were ever carried out "in the name of guns"

how many murders were carried out in the name of god?

The answer to the topic is no.

veritas 09-11-2015 06:10 PM

But is the bible to blame or are the people twisting it for their agenda?
