Look at these remote controlled drones flying around,
just make a bigger one that can hold a person and you have a flying taxi

I don't think it is impossible for our generation to see it, albeit probably not in two years. Even if it was available I don't think we are ready for it. We have tons of accident in our regulars roads on our terrestrial earth, imagine in the sky, accidents would be more catastrophe filled. Plus, how will the state regulate traffic laws, there is too much variables that will keep such technology from becoming readily available, especially when they are so much reckless drivers.

I don't think there will be any driving, it will all be remote-controlled. You'll basically jump in and say where you want to go and then a robot will remote-control your drone-car to it's destination.
