Steven Hawking theorizes things can enter/exit black holes

"The message of this lecture is that black holes ain't as black as they are painted. They are not the eternal prisons they were once thought," Hawking told a meeting of experts, according to the New Scientist. "Things can get out of a black hole both on the outside and possibly come out in another universe."

thoughts?

oats 08-27-2015 02:42 AM

not a new theory of is, if I recall correctly. I remember a lecture where he talked about how information can escape mini black holes when they collapse on themselves. But idk man, I saw that movie Event Horizon so I'm not cool with sending shit into black holes.

Hawking the popcultural wigwam for general deep thought.

Ol dude 'Hoofter or whatever had this theory prior, or something.

The real questions is,

how did Redmayne win that oscar?

El Muffin 08-27-2015 04:12 AM

the millennium falcon when it goes into hyper speed can breach the space time continuum.

but if Chewbacca doesn't wear a seat belt he get suxd into the black hole and come out covering Kenny g tracks on tatooine

uh-oh 08-27-2015 07:03 AM

i think people are dumb and just don't get what a black hole is

its not a hole. its not a tunnel to another universe

its just a super dense piece of space metal/rock we havent discovered yet because discovering it is DEATH

the same way a star has a mass gravitational pull on everything so do black holes but times a billion. i really think if light could escape a black hole we would just see a planet type object/rock

but since light doesnt escape it seems like some black vortex void thing because its pulling everything into it so firmly that nothing escapes back out for our dumb human eyes to comprehend

i feel like someone has had to have come to this conclusion before but every time i hear scientists talk they just sound like dummies and talk about wormholes and mythical white holes that DON'T EXIST

like yo if the universe started as a tiny little ball/on the head of pin, and then exploded outward, and everything that exists in the universe was in that tiny ball

black holes are probably whatever matter that held it all and compressed it down to that size with there denseness/gravity

and right now since shit moves in cycles the black holes suck up everything near them, and eventually probably suck up EVERYTHING and then eachother and when all the black holes coalesce back together the force of them holding the ALL probably erupts and boom

BIG BANG

i just figured this shit out while being sleep deprived and having the ability to talk, walk, and type

stephen hawking can suck my dick

event horizon a dope movie though

bumping above the boring drunken Bodey YouTube threads posted last night tbc

I still hold that movie as THE scariest movie I've ever seen. it legit scared the shit out of me as a kid, and since then it's held a psychological grip on me.

it also mindfucked me cuz I only knew Sam Neil as Dr. Alan Grant from Jurassic Park.

I've entered n exited a few black holes myself

No one knows the truth about Black Holes because we can't even see them. The only way they are observed are thru the forces they exert on the things around them. Just about all the information on them are THEORIES, because we do not know for a fact.

White Holes are THEORETICAL, as is Warp Speed, as is the idea of a Multiverse, as are Worm Holes. All of these are theoretically possible, but that's it.

Those Aliens tho....

I was live streaming a once in a lifetime lecture from the Wigwam, but I had to piss real bad, so I was in a zugzwang

Gravity is theoretical. Magnetism is theoretical. Electricity is theoretical. Whats your point?

lol this nigga right here man

nerdboy

forreal though, there's a common misconception that theories imply lack of knowledge. really, they are proof of how much we DO know about things. we fill in observational gaps with math-based models. we know a good deal about black holes, just not nearly as much as we don't know (which is why it's exciting to talk about the possibilities!).

sorry, teacher rant over. carry on

We can test all of these theories, that's the difference. We can't test theories of black holes because we aren't near one, nor would we be able to if we were (theoretically lol). We can observe how they interact with the surrounding environment, but we cannot run any tests like we can with gravity, electricity, etc.

@Amen singling out my post out of the 10 here, calling me nerdboy. FOH.
