It's because of people like this I constantly flip flop on the death penalty debate.

Speaking as an L.A. resident born & raised..

We've had gang initiation acts where u drive at night on a one lane each way street and drive over the lane line, then if the oncoming car flashes their headlights, the would be gang member shoots to kill. These are despicable type acts but ita just part of the gang culture in L.A.

don't get me wrong, there are def gang politics that most people are completely ignorant of - including myself, for the most part, but I've at least had some crash courses - but this shit is inexcusable. I heard about this talking to my friend earlier today, SC Crip that I used to push for in college who was breaking it down for me. This is definitely not one of those "you just have to know LA to understand it" kinda things, it's just really fucked up.

Yeah this isn't some you gotta be in it to know it shit...anyone can see this is just brutality for brutalities sake.

Then gangs try to one up each other into a vicious cycle. As a kid, i used to stay away from my house windows that faced the street in fear of a drive-by. Would never sit by them and Literally walk fast past those windows because gun shots & police helicopters are an every day/night thing

In my grandmothers house as kids we used to have to duck under her window when the bullets started, they would go straight thru the windows above us. Or if we were out we just lay on the ground flat with our heads down an hoped the bullets would fly over our heads.

as a kid, I used to play in the jungle behind my house and see how long I could follow the wild pigs before they'd run off. then I'd climb trees and catch lizards and listen to gangsta rap when I got back home.
