Real fast, NASA has Jet Propulsion Laboratories at the head of classifying Near Earth Objects, they're the beacon for keeping track of these types of things. 2 questions come to mind, did they know before hand and not warn them or is this yet another " oops, must have missed that one" kinda thing like when the meteor hit Russia a few years back.

If the technology behind this is not as fail safe as they claim it to be some sort of check and balance procedure must be in place yes? Billions of dollars flying over our heads and NASA says "nothing to fear go about your business" but they just joined with the Nuke scientists to figure out ways to eliminate incoming rocks with nuclear capabilities.
