wtf is an sr22
can someone explain it
none of the dirt people im in contact with know longstory short, im required to provide proof of insurance on a vehicle i sold almost a year ago. i can't provide proof of sale because i junked/scrapped it and i don't know who i sold it too since i called literally 20 places looking for the best price, they paid cash, title was handed over boom. i'm guessing the car was such a piece of shit they didnt bother notarizing/re-registerring it and they just tore it apart. so its still registerred under my name, and im required to provide proof i have insurance on it. after calling and bitching them out about extorting me, i've found my literal only option is to pay a 150 dollar fine and get an sr22 to not have my license suspended. so whats an sr22? its some type of personal insurance? I GOT INSURANCE ON MY TRUCK BUT I GUESS THAT MEANS NOTHING FUCK THIS PIECE OF SHIT NATION |
call your current auto insurance provider
tell them you need this it will probably cost you $25 to file it |
word? what is it tho
is it a 25 dollar one time payment? or is it like an ongoing thing im under the impression its like a 3-5 year thing i gotta pay on? i dunno tho. im probably reading shit wrong |
it's one time to file
it stays on for three years I don't really understand it but it's not a huge deal |
just don't let your insurance lapse for at least three years or your license will be suspended
|
Lol, your insurance will be going up..
before i got an sr22 I was paying 70 bucks for full coverage after I had to pay 120 for liability. Good luck. I have a year left on mine I'm paying 194 for full coverage now on my whip, it goes down little by little |
what? thats fucking stupid
i pay 60 for liability as it is, and its too much. would it make more sense to just let them suspend my license and then pay to have my license reinstated? |
It's a form of insurance.

From the Progressive site:
1. It’s not really insurance While many refer to “SR-22 insurance,” an SR-22 is actually just a certificate your car insurer files with your state to vouch for you. Basically, it verifies you have coverage. You only need an SR-22 if a judge says you do—this can happen after certain violations, or after a succession of them. If you’re required to carry an SR-22 and you already have insurance, you’ll just need to add it to your policy. If you’re not insured, you’ll quote an auto policy and an SR-22. 2. It’s not (too) expensive Having an SR-22 filing might cost you a little extra (again, temporarily): There’s a fee to file it, generally around $25. If you don’t have insurance, the fee is included in your Progressive quote. Your insurance rate might go up if you need the SR-22 because of a moving violation or accident. Certain states require you to pay in full when you have insurance that includes an SR-22 filing. 3. It’s not forever In three years—give or take, depending on your state—you won’t need your SR-22. At that point, call your insurer and ask to have the filing removed from your policy. Three years is also how long it takes, generally, to clear your driving record. So, any violations that triggered your needing an SR-22 have cleared from your record, too. |
Lol At 60 dollar insurance
