computers are confusing. people who understand them enter
i want a decent gaming pc.
i want to be able to run new games for 1000 bucks. i dont need them all the way maxed out, but as close as possible i've been looking through pcs and there are way too many components that throw me off processors. ghz. ram. SSD? graphics cards with confusing names and shit. how is a 4gb ram video card better than a 2? how come gaming pcs have 8gb standard ram instead of 16 like more generic normal pc's? i always thought more ram, better pc right? and then theres shit like i7 intel vs. i5. WHATS THE DIFFERENCE HALP. also whats the point of SSD. some have them and they're like 300 more with half the ram and normal storage i don't understand pc's. link me to the best actual computer for 1000 plz or if you think i shouuld build my own, be willing to link every single thing i will need, and be available to walk me through setting it up lol but word, all the music applications i use run perfect on this shitty old dell i have. 4gb ram, 500 gb hd, 2.5 ghz. so any computer will probably be fine for all of that. i just want to get a solid pc to use for the next few years, where i can enjoy gaming somewhat. again i don't need maxed out video if its sacrificing something else. im guessing like medium settings on the average game? really only upgrading for rome total war 2 which i still havent played yet, but i figure if it runs that well-ish anything will run good DROP KNOWLEDGE |
like some graphics cards are made for design/video game design, yet they aren't recommended for GAMING?
thats like saying this stove is made for cooking steaks, but i wouldnt recommend eating a steak cooked on this stove im going to sleep. |
i5 is good enough - i7s are for post processing, 3d rendering, audio encoding, etc.
SSDs are so much faster than traditional hard drives it's stupid. they are exponentially quicker. no standard computer has 16GB of RAM. 8GB is more than enough in most instances outside of, say, a massive modded skyrim install. 4GB or 3GB VRAM is starting to become the standard for loading extremely high texture packs. yes, build out. |

can you link something that would be ideal? consider that post processing, audio encoding, and massively modding skyrim are in my wheelhouse, even tho im not sure i know what two of those things are, they just sound like stuff i do. "post processing/mixing, audio encoding/bouncing tracks" i say that my computer does all that fine, cuz it does, but if there is something better obviously that would be doper. i also have that stupid fact/quote that might be made up, about how computers are just exponentially getting better and i'd hate to drop a stack on something thats gonna be archaic in 2 years |

but than im looking at bummy "asus" looking pc's that have double the specs in everything except the video card is like 2 models below it so im thinking i might just get one of those? i dunno. i gotta let the NCG'S weigh in im gonna make a sandwich. finally get a shower since its going on 10pm and i'm filthy. then i'm going to sleep. when i wake up if there was debate/a conclusion and someone i respect picking one for me to buy so i can blame them instead of myself when i purchase it that would be ideal. |

lol no two generations old now bottom of the barrel video card will not allow for total war 2 |
it's only 800, he can just swap that out
|
that seems pretty solid tho from what i've been looking at diode
if you can link each individual component to build my own for 1000 as good as possible, that would be appreciated, or just link a prebuilt one. ps, that vid card will probably run it, i mean it might not run it on ultra with maximum troop numbers and stuff, but i've heard even the best cards struggle at that |
throw in this vid card, you're still coming in under 1000

also your build has no SSD. even a hybrid hd with 8GB SSD boot sector would be a minimum these days. |
dude, he can throw in an internal SSD for like 80

i have the ati radeon 3450 bros
pretty much any video card is an upgrade but word i shouldve never started this thread. diode if you can help i know you know your shit i'll throw you something to build me one (virtually, links and help me with setting it up, not building and sending) i'll throw you 100 if that seems appropriate? this shit is like rocket science to me. or mechanic type shit. your basically trying to get me to build a corvette with a hammer and nails (was gonna say ferarri but 1k is more corvette i think lol) when i struggle with understanding checking my transmission basically i know my car has a gas tank, a transmission, and spark plugs. but i don't know whats good. GIVE ME A 10000 GALLON GAS TANK. SOUNDS GOOD. meanwhile it means nothing to how my car runs too high too tired. i really am leaving now let the DISCUSSION UNFOLD |
well he said he didn't need the shit maxed out
not everybody has the patience to build from scratch man I certainly don't |
also i can go over the 1000 tho
i just want to use that as a baseline cuz once i'm done spending money on the pc, i can move onto building the studio around it and once i have a new good pc that should be solid for a couple years (hopefully, understandable if in a few years i have to run games and shit on lowest settings) but word once i got the pc, and studio and dope desk, then i am set i dont plan on having my pops live with me long, the shortest amount of time possible since he's getting paid again, but i wanna keep him around a few months to do all this the sooner its done the sooner i get my privacy/peace |
Your move stikta.
