Anyone got Snapshot?

Progressive thing?

Looked cool and I need something fresh in my life

Experiences?

Clayray 10-19-2014 03:11 PM

It's actually worthwhile. As long as you're not a horrible driver

~RustyGunZ~ 10-19-2014 03:22 PM

I drive like an elderly woman

Clayray 10-19-2014 03:36 PM

Your rates correlate with your driving skills & even habits. So if you do drive like a grandma then i think i'd be a good choice to get one. i'd do some research on it first, as with everything. cause who knows what kinda info they are extracting from your car as such as where you frequently visit etc.

Hush 10-19-2014 04:01 PM

What is it

Like a dash cam?

~RustyGunZ~ 10-19-2014 04:05 PM

I think

It like measures how you break and merge lanes

I'm not 100% sure but I'd imagine it has something to measure speed as well

not sure if the camera looks at the road or you, or both

Clayray 10-19-2014 04:10 PM

it does neither, i'm assuming this is the only way it hooks up. probably pulls info from your cars computer. not sure about older models of cars though.
@Split to thread. you know more about cars & things of that nature.

That's right where OBD-II ports are on cars, so yeah it's pulling info from your ECU. It probably looks at your throttle and brake position sensors so they can get a feel for if you drive well or like a frightened grandma, I doubt they look at much more engine data than that

I know they're GPS enabled, so it's getting speed data as well as typical routes you take, so they look at problem/ high risk areas you drive through etc

~RustyGunZ~ 10-19-2014 05:01 PM

@Split what's your opinion of it

not on cars made before the OBD II standard

It'd have to be hardwired into your wiring harness

They probably just use the GPS data instead

Ghost1 10-19-2014 08:53 PM

Whats the point of it from the consumers side tho......it lowers your insurance rates im assuming as long as u dont drive like a dickhead?

I speed. This is definitely not for me. Cant have my insurance rates thru the roof just cuz i like to sleep in a bit in the morning.

Good if you live out in the boonies and don't speed

uh-oh 10-19-2014 11:37 PM

I drive like an old woman. nothing brings me more joy than to see someone like bags change lanes and speed past me in a hurry just to meet back up with them at the red light. bunch of people in a hurry for nothing. racing to redlights like getting to it quicker somehow makes your commute faster

I dunno tho in my 9 years of driving ive only been fully legal like 3 months of it so getting pulled over is terrifying to me. its an instant tow not having insurance. 100 bucks for speeding etc. but basically instantly Im towed if I get pulled over for anything. got my license plates and registration but this is communist fucking BABYLON where I must present my papers to the kings men or lose permission to use his road

fuck off with all these insurances im supposed to have. let me live free and DIE

Ghost1 10-19-2014 11:51 PM

Sumtimes those redlights r greenlights u dickhead. U gettin flipped off regardless.

anime_boners 10-20-2014 09:10 AM

I have one

it's a giant pain in the ass

yellow lights at times will ruin your life because you have to either speed up to run it or brake hard enough that it sets off.

also every idiot on the road who hard brakes in front of you is gonna be your worst enemy. and all the little fucking unsupervised hooligan children who run out into the street too.

I still managed a handful of discounts off it but they weren't worth the ass-ache that having it caused me lol

You live in like north bumble fuck though, so you probably won't have the same issues as me.
