Common & Jay Electronica... Should I go?
Normally, the answer to a question like this isn't a "Yes" but more like a "HELLTHEFUCKYEAHMUHFUCKA".
But heres my dilemma. From what I've seen and read about the rapper formerly known as Common Sense, isn't all that positive. Yea, he's the SHIT and has made a dope impact on hip-hop with his presence but I'm not completely sold on his stage presence in a live venue. He knows his music, but he doesn't look like he gets hype nor does he seem to perform very long while on stage. This is merely based on reviews I've read and youtube videos I've seen. $30 ain't a lot but shoooot, I want to get my money's worth. Next up is Jay Electronica, fuck that... Jay ElecHannukah, Jay ElecYarmulke Jay Elect Ramadan Muhammad Asalama'Aleykum Rasul'Allah subhana wa ta'Allah through your monitor, etc... What I'm getting at is this dude is a BEASTTTT!!!! But yet, another dilemma, dude only has like a handful of songs. I mean, how long you gonna perform? Get hype and do something dope like pull Jay out as a surprise guest? Doubt it. Either way, I've become a bit of a snob for live shows, going to see Outkast on Halloween night and I'm expecting no less than 1.5+ hour show. Plus I get to hear the hits, see the energy and see a hip-hop duo that are GODS in my eyes. I guess maybe my expectations are too high yet at the same time, shouldn't I get my money's worth? Thoughts... Considering buying tickets soon as I'm sure they'll be expected to sell out soon. |
I saw Common perform outdoors at my college, and he definitely failed to hold the attention of most of the students. But I wouldn't say he was bad. I'd say they were not fans.

Id go solely for jay elec
Yeah commons live performances are eh |
@Certain thats exactly what I'd expect from a Common show. Just cause they have a name or are known for making great music, doesn't mean they know how to hold the audience's attention.
@Aristocrat I feel that man, and at first I was about to do that, then I'm like... "Hol up! I'm only a fan of a handful of this guys songs and haven't seen him put an album out, like, ever." I've seen shows based solely on mixtapes and stuff i.e. Mac Miller before he got "famous" but Jay Electronica doesn't have too much of anything for me to buy into him. He seems like he'd be a pretentious fuck, dunno why I get that vibe from him... Probably cuz I think he feels like he's too good to put out music lol |
Sounds like torture.
