You'd be surprised at all the lies I ever told
& that surprises me, since my eyes will always know
Who's lying to me. Honest, not something I'm dying to be
I just need food on the table plus I'm trying to sleep
I might be on edge, it's likely that life seems upset
But I can't quite grasp why
- It might just be a joke, maybe I should laugh twice
What's life when you are broke, practically shattered
It's concerning how concerned you are, does empathy matter
- My own dreams will batter me, it's seen as tragedy
You know that story; is it wrong to steal to feed your family
& that's just real, I'm an honest man facing dark times
I should've had this ambition- Hunger had to spark mine
I promise it's for the good of us, my word's forever
Since I'm living life where truth & lies blur together
