The Flu + The Irishman (netflix)

First I'll talk about the flu I've been sick.. like sicker than I can remember being in like 10 years. This shit is no joke I got my flu vaccination from wal-greens and whatever but that did nothing. Fever in the 102's consistently coughing so hard that I have to throw up because it chokes me... no bueno. Just wondering if anyone else ran into it because I don't get sick.. but damn.

So while I wasn't going to work I watched The Irishman which 3.5 hours is a commitment all at one time to watch for me, but I watched it all even though I was half delirious.

Watched it again fully with my gf tonight because she hadn't seen it etc etc. But my analysis is this.

It was a good movie, solid acting. At the beginning it took me awhile to get used to the fact that they used movie magic to make their faces look younger and have more hair etc. As well as well as when De Nero did the tough guy stuff and beat people up, the way he held himself his posture and whatever reminded me of what one of my grandpas would look like trying to beat someone up.

I got over that, but still I wouldn't call it a GREAT movie, like they were touting it as one of the best in the last 15 years and stuff. I found it boring in parts but obviously still good enough that I watched it twice in a week without turning it off.

I think the critics and movie people ranked it so high because they know pesci de niro and pacino are never going to do another gangster movie, let alone together... let alone with Scorseesee. All of the aforementioned could die at any time. So they gave it a better a better ranking than what it deserved.

I give it a 7/10 --- any thoughts? And for scale I'd give say Casino or Goodfellas an 8.

Movie was fucking awesome. Also took me a moment to ignore the ageing shit. Pretty much best scorsese flick since goodfellas. I loved departed and wolf of wall street but those didn't have a scorsese feel to them. I looked at this as the last hoorah of these great actors.

Also, allow me to rant for a second.

there has been fem nazi/white girl suicide bombers out there up in arms about anna paquin not having enough lines in the movie. Talking about that it was a typical scorsese treatment of female characters. My reaction after watching it, was pretty much they need to shut the fuck up. What a stupid narrative. Of course we don't get to "know her better". The story is told through the eyes of a father that never got to know her because of his actions that we see unfold in the movie. That's the whole fucking point of the movie.

rant over.

lol word

i thought it was AIGHT. 6/10. was just depressing tbh lol. maybe 7/10 would be more fair.

but yea i mean everyone acted their ass off, everything was done well, it just felt slow and boring alot of the time. im also super familiar with the hoffa case/conspiracy though, so maybe i'd hold it in higher regard if i was blind to it like i was with henry hill in goodfellas or the dudes in casino

Fish part was jokes

Just FYI the flu shot is giving people the flu

Hoorah for vaccinations

Exposure to pathogens strengthens immunity

Being a bubble boy willing to use urself as patient zero for technologies next miraculous folly doesn’t

Ur better off shooting carfentanyl with puddle water than getting a 2019 flu vaccination

And that’s why there’s MD after my name

Yw

Victor. 12-01-2019 09:36 AM

Thought the MD stood for more drugs

Witty 12-01-2019 10:19 AM

The flu vaccination is not giving people the flu.

Smh.

Rawn MD 12-01-2019 11:31 AM

It is tho @Witty

And maybe inn another stage of life @Victor

How is that even nearly evidence that the flu shot gives people flu?

The vaccination doesn't contain the live virus, I fail to see how it could possibly cause the flu.

boof 12-01-2019 12:35 PM

i know lots of people that support vaccines that refuse to give their kids the flu vaccine including nurse's, practitioners, doctors, etc.

was bronson in this movie?

uh-oh 12-01-2019 02:16 PM

Yea he had a quick scene selling a coffin towards the end

Aero 12-01-2019 03:06 PM

Movie was trash imo they’re just hyping it bc of the actors but I didn’t think the acting was that great. De Niro’s face is constantly stuck in dumb expressions.

PancakeBrah 12-01-2019 06:38 PM

Woah that guy's edgy. And an original thinker who doesn't give a fuck (about anybody). Time to follow his Twitter Account.

Finnydot 12-02-2019 06:48 PM

I also thoroughly enjoyed it. Aging shit didn't bother me at all.

Blas 12-03-2019 03:40 AM

Rawn literally has MD in his name, why are you guys questioning him about the flu shot? smh, fools.
