Aladdin was fire
Just saying
Let me also say that I’ve never seen the original It was just like right after my time of watching Disney animation so know that But I really enjoyed this, though Smith did a great job, even if he strained to hit some notes |
it was real solid imo, my only complaint is i really wanted to see jasmine in that slave leia outfit foreal foreal. Like, I understand why they did it the way they did, and I fully support not degrading a strong female lead, but every fiber of my manhood wants that scene
but also youve never seen the original wtf, thats blasphemy |
I know
And now I’m worried that seeing this one first will fuck it up and I’m gonna like this one more |
You’ve never seen Aladdin?!
Wtf |
I mean, I was 16 when it came out
|
Jesus
|
It may surprise you to know there were even people older than that
|
Yeah you and the other boomers
|
Like Boomer Esiason?
|
Is that a wordplay?
|

I read somewhere that Disney was remaking all their movies because their legal rights to the content were expiring, and making a new movie would renew them for another x number of years. Of course their new streaming app launching in the winter is a big part of it, too

Iirc I only had 3 legit complaints about the movie 1) The dude who played Jafar was pretty forgettable and monotonous/boring. I think if they had Jason Momoa as Jafar, it would've been bad ass. 2) The whole new world scene was kinda underutilized visually and the dude who played aladdin definitely isn't a great singer either. Jasmine was great though, and fine af 3) The stage/walls or whatever they used for Aladdin's home at the beginning of the movie looked super fake for some reason. It reminded me of something you'd see at Disney World that almost looks like the real thing, but is obviously manufactured and just doesn't look authentic at all But overall I thought it was pretty good. Visually it was a great film. Smith did a great job as the genie, and I'm sure he had help from audio engineers and some pitch correction - but he was able to pull off the intro song pretty well, and everything about the prince ali scene (visually and the song) was a 10/10 imo. I'm glad that Smith wasn't blue the entire movie, he could've been in his human form a bit more, but it wasn't too cheesy. Their casting choices were good for the most part were good - I don't have any complaints at all about their choices for Genie, Jasmine, or Aladdin (just wish someone else sang Aladdin's part on whole new world). tbh I loved Aladdin growing up, so for anyone who has any nostalgic attachment to the movie - I'd recommend it. It's not perfect by any means, but it's a solid watch. |
Jasmine looked way better in real life.
