I was 15 years old when this song came out. Not only was it Canibus' first commercial single, but it ripped apart an icon of hip hop music and banged hard. Also introduced a type of lyricism that never saw mainstream appeal before. Bis may have had the worst career of all time after this but this shit changed the platform.

99percent of your fans don’t exist.

Battle over, fuck canibus. Great era back then.

I really thought Canibus' first album wasn't as bad as everyone said it was. It wasn't a flop to me and I grew to like it.

Yo @Innovator if you had Napster in 98 then maybe you heard the LL rebuttal, which was pretty hard... but there was no video on TV. I guess LL wins in the end cuz he's on NCIS: Los Angeles tho.

I heard The Ripper Strikes Back on the radio the day it got released. That shit was all over the radio and it blew my mind. Like, checkmate.

Umm yeah this is how I heard it.

It was on the radio.

If I’m not mistaken it was 99jamz down here in Miami
That played it. If not them then power 96. Either way
It was on the radio. .

But yo I’m a huge canibus fan but let’s be real here. Bis’ career was never the same.

Didn’t LL drop a couple hits after that? Long before TV SPOTS.

Checkmate.

That track didn't fuck up Bis's career.. he did it to himself by not being able to drop a coherent track that wasn't an absurd freestyle. Regardless.

you either haven't really heard bis, or are too swayed by other niggas opinions

the nigga has integrity & speaks on shit most niggas don't got a clue...that's what fucked his "career" up if that's what you wanna call it...along with coming at a mainstream appeal nigga like LL - but again, that bleeds off the integrity as an artist

2nd Round KO was raw as fuck and that video was dope as hell too.

Sucks he didn't blow up but at least he still pops in with an album or song when possible.

4, 3, 2, 1 is and always will be my joint though.
