Don't want to be like "I'm so broke I can't afford toothpaste." And i don't want to say "that bitch don't deserve shit!" Either. But i want the person who reads it to understand how fucked I've been the last 4 years.

Legit question. How do I say these things in a way that makes it legit without the person reading it (who will be incredibly gender biased probably) thinking I'm trying to not pay anything.

A little bit about me if you didn't know....

I spent almost 2 years at waldo pizza making under 100 a check take home. My rent was being deposited straight from my job into a bank account for my roommate who is my landlord and was my co-worker. So everything was taken care of but it still sucked not having any pocket cash. During that span she got married and now has 2 disposable incomes in her house with her husband and her both working. Even then, I was still paying almost $500 a month.

Now they want me to pay for insurance, too. And per my current employer, that would be my whole check again.

Any advice appreciated.

Then just add your income, balance and transaction history for the past 4 years. It doesn't have to be in depth if you don't want to show your subscriptions to porn sites, it just has to show in/out every month, if they ask for more then I guess you're fucked since I assume you have subscriptions to these sites. But ye, having that stuff from your bank showing your balance each month, what goes to what and your reasoning on why the stuff you pay for child support should be lowered, not because you don't want the best for your child or its mother (important part to mention even if you give 0 fucks about whoever questionable girl let you hit it), but because it's not viable in this economy.

It should go through. Fuck the pride shit, you gotta be upfront about this stuff or they won't help you for shit. Best of luck with everything, financial shit sucks.

With anything that involves litigation, provide paperwork.

Attach copies of your bank statements along with your rental agreement. With a highlighter, highlight the amounts you pay and how.much you receive.

I'd write a note just stating the cold hard facts.


For the past X years it's been extremely difficult for me to provide for both my child and myself. Financially, it can be done, but at the cost of my quality of life. A reevaluation of how much I need to pay would not only help me personally, it will help me financially. As in, I'll be able to save money for inevitable car troubles, which would help me maintain employment, which of course gives.me the.means to make my child support payments in full and on time.


Something to that effect. It doesn't have to be bleeding heart shit ..just state facts letting them know you're a person and money doesn't just fall in your lap without working for it.

That's what they're supposed to be for. We don't know Finny's baby mama and his history with her. She could for all we know be using most of that on herself like new clothes, jewelry n shit for her instead of the kid. I'm not saying this is the case here but it could be.

Don't think that would be a smart move. People have a tendency to side with the girls even tho things seem to be on the verge of changing towards the better lately, still got an incredibly long way to go with cases such as these. It'd most likely be energy draining, costly and end up backfiring in one way or the other. I think the shit @Chill Phil said is right on the money tho.

If nothing goes through or the mother is doing shit to fuck his life up even more or does something proactive for something like this to not go through, then we're speaking about the possibilities of bringing in a lawyer. It's definitely a much bigger and not really a practical way of dealing with this tho.

Well firstly u need to understand the renegotiation u have petitioned for is conditional to your finances based on the child support parameters.........and if I'm not mistaken you make more money now than when you initially set up your support agreement?

If u have less than 40% custody and you're not paying for his health insurance or extra curricular activities then u can expect an INCREASE

Is it possible to speak with the mother about this? Is she rational enough for something like this or are you guys dealing with bad blood between each other, Finny? If she could be on your team for lowering it then it could perhaps go through with ease, might be embarrassing af to take that convo with her but if she's cool it would help you out a bunch.

If she is a rational human being I know for a fact this can work between two people. A friend of a friend did exactly that with his ex, thing is they're both rational people tho so she understood his situation and went along with it. Fuck you too btw.
