Anyone else listening to Fiona Apple right now?

Me too.

PancakeBrah 08-01-2013 11:36 PM

No?

Eŋg 08-01-2013 11:42 PM

yes. The Idler Wheel, actually.

if you really wanna be gangsta, throw some Joanna Newsom on top of that, too.

this is inbetween rifling through Steven Wilson's and Tom Waits' discography, as well...

...with a consistent pinch of Fripp.

get at me.

PancakeBrah 08-01-2013 11:46 PM

Joanna Newsome's latest album's, forgot the name, later half is up there in terms of best songs ever written. Too long as a complete album, though, and I find the first half spotty.

Idler Wheel is exactly what I was listening to when I made this. Flawless album.

Certain 08-01-2013 11:48 PM

The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do is one of the five best albums of the past five years.

Eŋg 08-01-2013 11:49 PM

re: The Idler Wheel, listened to it start to finish, no skips. it's up there as a top album, definitely.

you mean 'Have One On Me' - In California, beautiful - though i actually prefer her first album... and parts of Ys. i also really want to fuck her, but i think that's reasonably normal.

I hate to admit this, but I prefer the Blind Boys of Alabama's version.

MMLRLK 08-02-2013 03:04 AM

When the pawn... is my shit. Havent listened to anything of hers after that tho

Certain 08-02-2013 03:07 AM

When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks like a King What He Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight and He'll Win the Whole Thing 'fore He Enters the Ring There's No Body to Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand and Remember That Depth Is the Greatest of Heights and If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where to Land and If You Fall It Won't Matter, Cuz You'll Know That You're Right is good, probably better than Extraordinary Machine. But The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do probably is her best work.

MMLRLK 08-02-2013 03:10 AM

In that case ill guess ill be checking out the idler wheel. Chick is mad talented. But damn those eating disorders fuck her shit up

Certain 08-02-2013 03:12 AM

Frank Metts 10-19-2013 02:14 AM

I think I just for my period from reading this thread ... Maybe I'll relive my college days and find an old o.a.r cd

Certain 10-19-2013 02:21 AM

How did this thread remind you of O.A.R.? O.A.R. is the worst.

i never listened to fiona apple, but she cool for this

Certain 10-19-2013 02:40 AM

Big nose?

Frank Metts 10-19-2013 02:43 AM

Because Fiona Apple was very relevant to college girls in 1999- 2000 ... And most of the sandal and sock wearing douche bags liked o.a.r ... Or Dave Matthews

Both horrible in my opinion

Tidal was also a big cd in the mid 90s ... Criminal is prob one or the better mainstream songs of the 90s ... Every white chick who didn't want to jump in a time machine and be in the flava of love liked Fiona Apple

I'll take some early to mid 90's punk/ska/grunge over it all tbh

Certain 10-19-2013 02:45 AM

I can get down with that. Fiona Apple has evolved very much since Tidal, though.

I've heard ... Not bad music at all but not my cup of tea ... I'll take a 4 non blondes reunion over Fiona ... Maybe a little Lisa loeb sprinkled in just for hot hipster glasses and a reality bites soundtrack single
