Scotch bros.

Anyone else livid about Macallan's decision to nix all age statement whiskies besides 18 in favor of their new "1824" line that only differentiates by color? I'm more than halfway through my Mac 15 Fine Oak and going to be super depressed when my only options are sherry cask aged whiskys with no guidance on age whatsoever.

Marketing is a bitch.

Mac 12 got the axe too. That's my daily!

Fuckers.

Ghost1 09-18-2014 08:41 PM

Lol. I have never had emotions that you have had.

PancakeBrah 09-18-2014 08:41 PM

I'm drinking Jack Daniels straight from the bottle?

Ghost1 09-18-2014 08:42 PM

That's a good question. I didn't even know that was a thing.

The idea of sending liquor away is foreign to me.

North Dakota Crew.

"Therefore, when direct shipping alcohol to North Dakota, ... N.D.C.C. section 5-01-16.3 penalties apply for unlicensed persons shipping alcohol"

answer: illegal.

PancakeBrah 09-18-2014 09:19 PM

I'm not even sure if you had to Google that at this point.

took a couple tries, kept getting wholesaler laws.

PancakeBrah 09-18-2014 09:21 PM

Good. It would be a bit much if you knew North Dakota codes by heart.

Laph is way too peaty for me.

I'd rather glenlivet 12 as a daily (just me, not a huge macallen fan).
How is the balvenie 15? Balvenie 12 is my new favorite (affordable) 12.

i love some peat but not daily. laph is god tier as is lagavulin. bowmore is good for a daily peat monster and like i said.. supper affordable.

the balvenie 15 is fan-fucking-tastic. i try not to sneak into it too often but probably will start lest my mac stores get low since they can't be replaced.

big baby 09-18-2014 10:57 PM

i like Machiavelli rest in peace tupac west side till i die (15)

(affordable)

Split 09-19-2014 06:33 AM

i only really have whiskey if friends are coming back to ours after a night out

2 fingers and you'll be at that perfect place between buzzed and drunk. scotch is generally 80-90 proof, bud. and if you think it tastes like carpet cleaner you are confusing scotch with vodka.

two of my dailies listed here are ~40/bottle. the expensive ones get consumed on special occasions and usually last months if not more. stop.

a drop of (preferrably distilled) water if you prefer to open it up a little. you'll probably want to with a 10yr.

Split 09-19-2014 12:08 PM

I use a splash of water in any bourbon or Scotch, particularly those with higher proofs.

Ice should only be touched if you're talking a sub-Makers Mark bourbon or a blended Scotch. And if you're drinking blended Scotch, you might as well just go with Irish whiskey.

Witty 09-19-2014 01:33 PM

How about just drink whatever gets you the most fucked up in the shortest possible time?

Dudes talking about taste and shit wtf who drinks alcohol for the taste?

i drink wine for taste
i drink scotch for taste
i drink beer for taste

if i'm just out to get hammered that's another thing altogether. some people enjoy the taste of alcohol-focused beverages. crazy, right?

PancakeBrah 09-19-2014 01:48 PM

Gotta go with witty on this one.

'This is a fine year, indeed! A hint of oak and marmalade!'

Brb chugging whiskey and talking shit to people online because that's how god intended it

Split 09-19-2014 01:54 PM

I can see the pluses and minuses of both tbh. I don't always drink to get hammered

Diode 09-19-2014 01:57 PM

you'll grow up one day, cake.

or won't.

don't rush to it for sure.

Witty 09-19-2014 02:01 PM

Come around my parts diode....I don't know a single person who drinks anything for the taste...adult or otherwise.

My dad drinks raw vodka every day and he hates vodka lol

Y?

I don't understand.

NYCSPITZ 09-19-2014 02:07 PM

Diode how do you feel about the upcoming season? Hayes has the only legit chance of cracking NYR for 40+ games out of the newbies, he's better than JT Miller. All the other dudes like nig nog duclair, they're 2-3 yrs out IMO. Hayes is a 1st rounder and has a man body. Haggerty sniped one at Traverse City vs Dallas or Carolina I think but he's undrafted out of college and when has one of those worked for NYR even when said college player WAS drafted? Amonte? Kreider maybe? Only hayes will make it gawd.

BTW for most men I would assume it's Jack Daniels all day, with some disgusting shit on hand for females like smirnoff and alize.
