WRITE WEEK #1 + Explanation
http://netcees.co/showthread.php?t=9499
The Open Mic is opening a random weekly cypher competition, called 'Write week'. The thought that goes into an in-depth piece of non-battling writing is different than a keyed cypher, and we're taking that into account. On random Wednesday mornings a mod will create a 'Write Week' open cypher as a sticky in the Open Mic forum, along with an announcement in Discussion to alert anyone interested in participating. The original post of the cypher will contain a single subject to be written about. The subject can be anything from a single word, a sentence, a quote, or a picture. As this is an open cypher, anyone can post one verse at a maximum of 16 lines. The timeframe for dropping your verse will be from Wednesday morning (topic creation) until midnight Eastern, Thursday night. After the deadline, a rotating panel of 5 respected Open Mic writers and/or feeders will come to a majority decision as to which writer had the best verse. The results of the panel will come no later than Monday morning, and the winner of the cypher will receive an accomplishment. The first couple of runs will be through this panel in case of a lack of activity; if this becomes as popular as Fight Nights are for battlers the mod team will consider switching to the participants voting (obviously you can't vote for yourself). The panel will vote on the following criteria; Original Content, Flow, Rhyme Complexity, and Relation to the Subject. The Open Mic forum has spiked in activity lately and the admin/mod team thinks this will only increase that activity. The cypher topic is one of the best on the site, and this will give members incentive to write and gain recognition within the site. For too long the consistently active Open Mic section has been underrepresented in terms of the level of quality on this site, and this is a real chance to prove that the topical and open mic talent here on Netcees is on an equal playing field as the battlers. Beef up your e-resume and enjoy a different kind of competitive text. @deadman @namix @Storyteller @Vulgar @YDK @VERITAS @Bags @ill nik-A @zygote @Mr. J @Boredom @Certain Serpent @Pinot Grij @nO gOoD! @CopyPat @Lars @Void @Zombie @Darth Yoda @Beretta @Just Write @Pent uP @Nigma @Xnub @Hush @oats @TopicalDood5 @Coup @Innovator @Figurative @Gazette @Flo Real @Adonis @TYSON @oXus @Kiki @Shogun Dinero @Illume @PiE @Exis All apologies if I didn't mention you. Everyone's free to submit. ----- Although the plan is to post these early Wednesday morning, we want to get this going so I'm posting a topic in Open Mic now. The deadline for entries will be extended to Midnight, Friday to compensate. http://netcees.co/showthread.php?t=9499 Good luck and enjoy. |

Cooooool idea
Without notifying me anything till now had this come into effect
Was Geno and split told of this I mean its a cool idea an I like it but why not have this discussed before public cause I was just about to pull another write night And the first write night was disaster the second write night displayed great competition... So I don't see how it failed |
But I digress I like the idea and let's get the first week in my friend @PancakeBrah
GoW hit me up with the rough idea, I talked to Geno and Split about it. I knew they were mods too, didn't know you were. No disrespect intended my brah.
None taken was just surprised cause I was about to do a write night as @Figurative an i were discussing

fucking dope cake, props |
Do both imo write jight is more key oriented this is more thought out, no redundancy so why can't both go down? @Storyteller @God Of War @Genocide @Split Eight
so it becomes a 21hr battle royale?
also i second rawns opinion |
Posted something to pass some time. props on the idea I like it.
Yeah ill still do the write night
I'm in to write or, if necessary, judge.
Will add a couple more pennies when I can read that pancake
But write night II was dope as shit. Just saying. Be back after I drink a few and become mean as shit yo |
Ya write night 2 was quality fyi
Topic didn't say Write Nights were dead. I can edit out any mention of Write Nights if you want. That's not the point, we think this'll be dope.
Word good idea then imo
Word
so do we not need to sign up/check in or anything just drop before deadline? is deadline 4 hours from now or 25 hours from now?
Just drop whenever you feel like. No sign ups.
Normal it'll run as I or another mod drop the topic @ 8~ a.m wednesday, voting closes thursday midnight eastern. But this was dropped later so the deadline for drops is extended until Friday midnight eastern. |
To clarify, it'll basically be open two days. Thursday midnight as in thursday night.
Word start it already
Great idea @PancakeBrah... I definitely need to sharpen my tools a bit before jumpnig in the league.
It's a cypher night not a league just to accommodate our itchy fingers

Finally a way to compete again and have fun while doin it. I might just start tryin again lol
This allows writers to compete at all times no matter where they are/when they are on unlike a write night.
No need to rid WN, but this will be good. |
sounds good
in/posted already/brian bryan means business
very cool comp
Cool idea pan, sounds good

This is a new concept built upon from an old concept, it was brought to my attention by some staff members and I think its a great idea to gain more activity and involvement in OM. Dope thread btw @PancakeBrah good shit homie |
