How good of a lyricist do you think you are?

compared to the general population

YDK 09-06-2014 11:59 AM

Above average compared to population in the real world

Witty 09-06-2014 12:05 PM

The greatest who ever lived tbh.

Split 09-06-2014 12:07 PM

lyricist as in writing lyrics for rap songs?

shitty bc I don't roleplay as a rapper

@DexLabb

dull boy 09-06-2014 12:38 PM

This is a weird question.

PancakeBrah 09-06-2014 12:50 PM

In comparison to the average of the population? We're all above-average simply because we try.

Just like someone who benches, say, 185, is stronger than 90% of the non-lifting population.

They're not good, but they do it. So.

Vulgar you're drunk.

dull boy 09-06-2014 01:02 PM

lol

Are we talking knowledge or intelligence?

In all honesty, I think I'm only moderately more intelligent than the average population. Moderate is a considerable amount, though.

Split 09-06-2014 01:04 PM

Not that smart

YDK 09-06-2014 01:15 PM

I can be when I think before I speak...but thinking before speaking is a thought in itself so in reality I guess I'm only in the 51st percentile

@mod

Well I've been in the 99th percentile since middle school

SO TOP ONE PERCENT OF THE POPULATION IS OBV.

Honestly this question is too broad. People can be geniuses but retarded in most areas and vice versa. Since this is a writing forum I'll put it this way - since we are all working within the constraining framework of making everything have to rhyme, we are becoming worse as overall writers. Topicals and battles enforce horrible writing habits. I think a lot of the topicalists here would translate well to short stories though. Dead Man, Oats, Pancake , Pinot Grij and myself come to mind. Just saw a really nice ass walk by. In terms of writing IQ, which I think you're getting at, the aforementioned writers, plus yourself and a few others here with work can easily reach genius level at short stories and eventually novels. It's about skill and repetition. 150 Writing IQs abounding

Split 09-06-2014 01:32 PM

An average puzzlemaker can build a rubrics cube if he's given a drawing

Many of the worlds best writers weren't even that smart. Smart people just thought they were worth reading

You lack knowledge of this.

Fig 09-06-2014 01:40 PM

I'm a little smarter than some of the people I know

Which is good enough for me

Witty 09-06-2014 01:42 PM

The smartest who ever lived tbh.

Writing short stories is my favourite form of writing.

oats 09-06-2014 01:45 PM

I'd say most great writers were pretty brilliant. I can't think of an exception actually. Lots of fuck ups and alcoholics, but that often breeds some serious insight on humanity.

You know nothing of life yet. Admit this and we can begin.

I think it requires some intelligence tbh you could be honest but stupid and not have a clue about humanity to give insight on it.

Your brain needs to work in a certain way, I dunno if it's intelligence or something else, but just being honest doesn't necessarily mean your honesty will be insightful.

Chortles.

your loss.

Fig 09-06-2014 01:55 PM

My 12th grade English teacher told me I was the brightest student she's ever had

I failed her class

Do you know how much of an ego stroke you can get from saying, "naw dawg, my teacher says I'm hella smart but I don't apply myself. My apathy is cool and means I prolly do drugs and fuck bitches and lead a troubled life."

oats 09-06-2014 01:56 PM

That type of honesty, to discern and generalize meaning from small pieces of life, is a lofty emotional intelligence. People tend to consider only mathematical and logical domains as intelligence, but there's a lot more to being smart than numerical fluency and problem-solving.

Well being stupid is being unintelligent. If we're talking about exceptional intelligence it's 130+ for IQ

Idk I think the majority of smart and dumb people do nothing with their lives and there's something else to it

veritas 09-06-2014 01:59 PM

Fact. I am in the top 1 percentile of linguistic intelligence.

You're the smartest person, Fig. So quirky. Misunderstood but piercingly deep.

This is what I meant, but oats said it better because he's smarter than me.

I am the 2nd smartest person who have ever lived.
