5 Things That Killed Hip Hop
1. Drake.
When a Half Jew Canadian actor is thought to be one of the realest emcees out there, shit has hit the fan. I prefer my artist to be a little honest. 2. Lil Wayne He's a fag, and everybody is riding his dick for some odd reason I can't comprehend. 3. Mainstream rappers lost touch. We spend thirteen years in school and four or more years getting a higher education only to find that the dream job we worked so hard for, doesn't even exist. So we find our selves in the streets, haunted by music that advocates a life we cannot grasp. Fuck you, I don't live in a dream. 4. Too much singing. Forreal I hate auto tune. 5. The people that buy the bullshit created by these labels Yeah, you created the demand for whack rappers youhomo! End thread!!! |

Tupac was a well rounded emcee. He made tracks about his life, he spoke out on political corruption and he was still able to make a track for the ladies without dumbing it down. Much respect to all these great artist |

Drake and wayne killed hip hop? I hope you get your dick caught in a jansport zipper
|
Drake is cum sipper.
|
not a bad list...more peices to the puzzle tho
|
Blaming it on the artist is stupid the listeners are the blame...
|
its simple really. the demographic that buys the most music is teenage white girls. so that's every labels target audience. they push artists that will appeal to that market.
drake is a great example. a much more current one is macklemore. his music is friendly. mom and dad wont mind if their daughter downloads his stuff. they might feel differently about some MOP |
private prisons killed hiphop

Alright I'm not really big fans of either, but I agree they didn't kill hip hop.. Cmb is no more crippling to hip hop than no limit or the original cash money
.. Which I listened to growing up.. So that's bs. I'd say signing Drake was actually a genius move by Cmb tbh.. He's versatile, listenable, and females love him.. He'll always get thrown in radio rotation. Wayne is listenable as well, and what he lacks in versatility he makes up for in humor/whacked out sht, and he already has street cred from his past.. Although he may not have taken part in the majority of the sht, he's guilty by association bc imo BG is gangster as fuck, and I truly feel Wayne just built on his style n then diversified. But to the point made above, I'm convinced that Baby molested Wayne since he was an adolescents n now Wayne has a gay version of Stockholm syndrome... And is most likely on the downlow.. But he can drop solid when he wants..(ex: I can't feel my face w juelz) if ur going to blame the downfall of hip hop on anyone it should b levied on record executives and marketers (labels obv,) and the fans, more then any artist who are just playing the role they are told to play and the public wants to see.. Furthermore, blame it on technology... Sales r no longer a major source of income.. Mtv is nothing like it used to be, and face it rap concerts are rarely all that dope... Very few mcs/rappers can rock a stage with the energy to move a crowd (exception being like wu or red... Even snoop to an extent) but there's no instruments involved, and half the needed addlibs r done horribly. So instrumental musicians are more successful on that realm be it rock or Fuckin electronic. Just my thoughts.. I will say quality artists are few n far between tho, but I see the reasoning behind that being what I just said. Plus society has changed as well. |
Lmao at baby molesting wayne
Could be |
Lol @Figurative think about it tho. Baby basically Suge'd everyone in the original cash money. Why is he even still around? I mean doods barely relevant, and doesn't bring anything to the table ne more as far as I can see. I mean Waynes gotta have enough doe to back Cmb, and everyone knows that Baby slimey af... It's the only logical explanation, and it also explains their public 'closeness' as well. Moreover, Wayne was pretty much prime for the picking when Baby originally approached n made him..
And of everyone in the original cash money... Baby made Wayne.. The youngest. Shts suspect as hell |
I think the south killed hiphop, yes

I mostly agree with this list. Which is weird, because most people on this site are stupid.
Hip Hop isn't dead, though. So long as there's good music out there, it's still going. I think what you mean is the rarity of good music. Fads have been trending in the wrong direction for over a decade if you ask me. I remember when the underground got really popular, and everyone was kind of waiting for one of those 'true' emcees to break through to the mainstream and change what was generally perceived as good Hip Hop. Eminem got signed. Released SSLP, MMLP and then shortly after and during The Eminem Show turned into his version of a gangster rapper. Signed 50 Cent and gave traction to the shitty music movement. There will always be shitty rap music, but it's when that shitty music is given credibility that things seem hopeless. Macklemore is good, popular Hip Hop. |
50 cent was and is awesome man wtf?
macklemore? really???? |
Old 50 was dope pot Dollar is a great cd
|
It used to be pretty universally accepted that Ja Rule was garbage. DMX was third tier, if that. Lil Wayne would have been fringing on maybe decent. Wordplay has changed. IT hasn't changed, but what most people think of as clever wordplay isn't all that clever at all. Topics are shallow and poorly delivered. Pop Hip Hop is all about what sells. Those rappers selling the same crap reinforces that this is what people in Hip Hop should like. The masses are sheep. It takes someone with a bit of charisma and some taste to push things in the right direction, but most people with talent and a brain are too busy making money hand over fist to give a shit about the state of Hip Hop's quality.
|
I said 50 Cent was awesome? No. Reading comprehension.
|
Oh, ha, you're saying 50 Cent was and is awesome. My apologies. Your lack of proper punctuation makes it hard for people who aren't Rachel Jeantel to understand. No wonder you like 50 Cent. His subject matter perpetuates tried and true Hip Hop staples that appeal to the same crowd who like Lil Wayne. Taste palates and shit. I have an intellectual superiority complex, so I gravitate towards music that stimulates that. You're an idiot, so you gravitate towards them.
