I been told stupid frank metts the answer wqs premo 2 years ago
Neg urself negger |
Premo is dope, but if he learned from large pro, what does that say? Lp is one of the most prolific and most slept on, but whatever, neg me some more. Peace
|
YEA WELL if frank metts is in a music discussion i try to avoid it. he probably would say eminem
and fig http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oF7AU12LMB0 this came up randomly in my music folder shuffle thing this morning and i forgot about it and it spiraled into a premier appreciation morning he's been as dope as he's always been since he PREMIERED he still makes BANGERS in 2014. still with the same format NEVER evolved, same stlye of beats, same chopping style, same everything still consistent. there are others who stuck to their original format, but they'll never be better than they were, and don't maintain that level. dudes like alchemist fell off, them falling off is still better than most but premo never fell off, and never will. |

singletary coached ray lewis but ray lewis is the GOAT. |
That was the only acceptable answer. Cool... still, maybe one these days go see what large pro dud for hip-hop. Still want you to write for me bro... Peace
|
Oh yeah that's the 25th hour. That shit is hot. I forgot about Reks
|
Frqnk said dre
Which is probably as close to em as he couod get within reason lol |
Premier is obvious top choice. Dr. Dre isn't far behind IMO.

i just try and judge dudes on there actual music, and no ones catalog touches premiers if i was to base it on impact and influence and everything like that i would probably put marley marl above everyone, but i do put large pro in that category, same with finesse and pete and showbiz and diamond and all them dudes legends. premier just has the mass appeal and has been great forever and still is great, and i admire how he can keep it so simple, yet every time it loops around i still gotta grind my teeth with the i smell shit face cuz its so nasty |
dre is dope but he's like top 20 for me, mostly because of his lack of output
and because im hating cuz people over the years are all like YO I WAS AT DRE'S THE SHIT HE PLAYED THO!!! and then nothing ever comes out so apparently dre is sitting on thousands of bangers but produces like 1 track every 4 years. yawn |
Pete rock is up there as well
|
When did Large Professor "train" DJ Premier? Premier was active years before and is six years older than and was ahead of LP from the get-go.
My five favorite DJ Premier beats: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mnyBp4FzzI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjckjX13Nvk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QznoTgWVo_E http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKjj4hk0pV4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QK6-dN1ldQE |

he started on the sp1200 im pretty sure, then went to the mpc60 or mpc60II or whatever, now he's on the mpcrenaissance but yea he basically showed premier how to use the mpc. he didnt give him his sound or nothing tho or teach him how to chop or anything |
also certain get out of the 90's bro
i love all those beats with the fires of a million nukes but he's got so much shit after all that to love too |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t94LapLehak Also, that makes sense regarding Large Professor's influence. But let's not pretend like he invented DJ Premier. This isn't some RZA/Mathematics relationship. |
Dilla , stoupe..9th wonder
Premo obv choice but yea |
Lol, idk who taught who I was just talking shit. But I did say IF... lol
|
be hearin alot of people give Dilla the title tho
but word ion knoww bout best but my fav gotta be Kanye tbh |
kanye is dope for sure
as is dilla, but dilla gets alot of love cuz he's dead. you'd be hardpressed to find a dilla fan before he died but now watch a bunch of people act like slum village was relevant and the 6 beats he did for common changed there live lmao but word dilla was dope. |
Dilla did maaaad work tho, idgaf if a hipster noob wants to act like fila is a founding father, it won't change my opinion of him, besides, really, there is no "best" producer. Too subjective. Example, is dre a dope producer? No doubt. A dope beatmaker? Prolly just better than average imo...
|
Dilla shit is too sloppy for me
His g9od shit is great But sometimes im like....wtf r u doin weirdo? Never really liked to lqbel sum1 the goat of anythin tho....agree w naq on that Specially on here.....it starts w whos the goat....every1 is right....an then it breaks down into....lets just name a bunch of people who r good |
yea except premier is the GOAT
/closethread |
I like madlibs work too
Alchemist Just blaze fell off lol |
Madlib and dilla are like the same dude
|
Just blaze fell off?!?!?
Foh |
Madlib and lord quas are like the same dude, get it right yo. And there's a taste for every tongue. I'm the goat.
|
Timbaland is dope too, always makes hits.
Jim blaze > just blaze |
One time i made a beat and batman died.

Nobody loved JayDee. Everybody loves Dilla, like he somehow got great at the exact moment he died. |
I still can't name one slum village song. So what? If you ain't down from the jump you can't recognize later? I kept hearing about this dilla guy so I have him a shot. Didn't know he was shit down till after I heard some instrumentals. Wtf/e. Your early adopter status can't stop me from appreciating dope shit. RIP
|
New Primo is just as good as the 90's shit.
The beat he gave Vinnie Paz for The Oracle is killer. Still, I'd say Pete Rock. Personal preference. Primo is super close though. |
