Can you write a 20 line lipogram (e) about Keynesian v Austrian economics and upload to open mic section? You have 15 minutes to complete this writing exercise.

I'd hate that, esp. for a hiphop forum, it's too stifling for the multies etc which I'd inevitably be trying to use. I could easily do it, I think, I just wouldnt be interested in it and wouldn't like it enough to post it up. There was a time at RB when I used to try writing in all different forms of poetry, just to say I'd done it. i remember one that went like One Two Words Then Three Words Next Its Four Words and it carried on like that and had to rhyme, i forget what type it was called but i liked that one i saw Namix did something recently in the help section that was similar actually |
either way, my point being, it would annoy the fuck out of me to try that now
LOL i love the freedom on writing what i want that things too restrictive |
^^point well taken

Haha @Serious Do you copy everything? Ive only seen two posts by you today and they are just rip offs of the posts before them, which is a shame because one was a vote smh
@Lars yeah I know what you mean - but sometimes when im on a writers block or something I find writing exercises are a good way to get the mind going. now the open mics back and active you fancy a new collab sometime soon? Think our previous fell on deaf ears |

Writing exercises, just keep it simple man.
Try to do 16 to a beat. Write 24 lines, using the exact same scheme all the way through. Practice with different forms to bring fresh life to your lyrics. For example, try your hand at a Shakespearean sonnet, a ghazal, or some haikus. Picture a sad and painful/harsh story happening in the world today, some shit that just makes you feel pity for the world, and write 16 describing it. Then go in the other direction. these exercises should be simple enough, but require repetition. getting better at battling is a bit different. read good battles, but also, watch comedy, stand ups, funny shows, etc where the dialogue is smart and people cut each other. Study puns as well as metaphor development, practice doing that outside of a rhyme structure, in regular life, in conversation, etc. |
@IamBenT I wasn't looking for advice... I was wondering what other things people do...
Should I assume that's what you do? If so I will assume by your enthusiasm it has wielded positive responses. |
Curl the pen for 3 sets of 10 reps -
Bench press, your favorite novel for 5 sets of 5 reps - Grip a Tennis ball 20 xs. & write 1,000 sentences a day - Rinse & repeat. Flo rida's Padawon |
10-Minute Short Stories
Step 1. Place 10-20 pieces of paper (fortune cookie paper sized) with short story topics in a small box (I use an empty pop tart box) The topics are like 'haunted house' or a piece of dialogue like 'No, don't do it!' Step 2. Compose a complete short story in 10 minutes or less. Step 3. After 10 minutes, think on if you want to go further on it, using the outline of beginning, middle and end you've written. I've done this many times... great exercise. |
my bad @FloReal no doubt man this is shit I have done and still do to this day.
|
I just write tbh.
I don't practice. |
write an internal monologue of a young British prince who strongly wished he was of West African descent, and wrote in Ebonics in his poetic epistles and discourses to the new world
be sure to include his eventually exposure as a faker and the branding of his ass with his fraudulent pen name, after which no one took him seriously as a politician nor as a writer |
