Talk shit about the level of skill the battlers on the board currently have but do nothing to better the situation...

In order to progress you have to battle dudes better than you. So for all those just talking shit on the forums yet doing no battling congrats your making text what its become...

I know im just mid-teir, but if it wasnt for getting slayn by Ill nik, Hush etc. I wouldnt even be that....It also helps for those 'more advanced' to give advice...Not just 'wow that was horrible'....let them know how to fix it...

If your just on the site to talk in Disc and dont feel like battling cause its worn out to you at least take some time to vote on a couple battles and give good insight. 'Yall' are the reason text is dying...Not these new guys coming in..Were you always as 'dope' as you claim to be now? cmon

Word this is great wisdom right here, partially why i joined the 1-2, to be more active and build my skills, so i can get into the battle league and hopefully build a decent record. I much prefer topical to text battling cuz battles seem so formulaic, but i dont want to limit and look down on something that really does take alot of skill and heart to be good at.

Agreed man, i wont be where im at today if not for veteran advice from a few dudes on netcees, particularly a guy named HT who really showed me the way back then when i sucked badly, his tips and critiques were always helpful and ive grown since then. Battling tougher opponents and vets showing u some tweaks is definately a good way to elevate, look at sharpnine for example, the recent cross-training ultimate writer's shit helped him get to where he is today atleast..

if advice is wanted from a newb to a vet a PM should be sent, and considering the way a good deal of newbs react to criticism, I can understand why vets never go out of their way to give it.

I see both sides....thinking about it now...when I needed help and people said I sucked I just found someone I thought was dope and sent a pm asking for it. Even though one of said persons was a dick in the forums he was willing to help and actually thought it was dope i was asking
