Diode 04-03-2014 05:19 PM

sig sauer p226 (fairly expensive though)

can't go wrong with the ol' federal issue colt 1911

i mean.. you need to answer some questions. is this for home? concealed carry? what caliber? what type of trigger action do you want? revolver or semi auto? sights? modular?

veritas 04-03-2014 05:19 PM

Kimber 1911 5 inch barrell. 45 caliber. add a crimson trace laser grip.

Diode 04-03-2014 05:21 PM

Destroyer 04-03-2014 05:21 PM

sorry for the ninja edit, forgot that the extra velocity from the 5" is offset by the length to reduce recoil if anything.

.22lr or any type of .22 is a solid investment. head shots kill humans, and it masters small game procrument.

TYSON 04-03-2014 05:33 PM

I am. All i need is two shots if a nigga break into my house. And i hear mixed reviews on high points.

the problem is not the caliber. the problem is .22LR is impossible to acquire right now.

Damn i knew u would ask. Never. I have yet to fire it actually. I feel weird when i go to the gun shop, like everybody is watching and judging. Might just be me...

Split 04-03-2014 05:42 PM

Honestly, go to a range and try a bunch of different guns in a bunch of different calibers

I hate Glocks. The Ruger SR9 and SR45 are fucking dope, simple and cheap guns. I do like the P226 as well especially the single/ double action shit

Beretta's are real nice as well, they have a good weight to them

Don't go super compact

So you bought a weapon that can end someone's life and/or protect yours and your family's but you have never even fired it before nor have you even been to a range.

I say this in all seriousness:

Go to a class or get rid of your weapon. You are creating more of a hazard to yourself and your loved ones than anything by having that in your house without the experience to use it properly.

You are already unlikely to stop an intruder with .380 ACP at anything other than point blank range with multiple rounds to vital organs and/or a head shot. It is reduced to nearly impossible if you don't even know how to fire your weapon properly. Emphasis on properly. This isn't Call of Duty. You will miss and probably hurt someone you love in the process (whether through a stray bullet or your ineffectiveness in accuracy resulting in the intruder proceeding to act out his/her will).

Rly? I don't see myself ever being in a situation where a subcompact would help me where a compact wouldn't. I'm not old enough to officially own a pistol or EDC legally do I can't speak on ease of concealment. How's the recoil/ misfire rate?

Chyeahhh!!! 04-03-2014 05:56 PM

seems to be a lotta hate for foreign made pieces and and shit in here when China makes some of the best AK variants out there not to mention there Norinco series in the SKS and 870 clones. As a person who has owned and shot most of the shit listed in here, dependability in your home is important, if you pull the trigger and it goes bang, that's all you need. Now if you're in the field where elements and mother nature come into play, then corrosion resistance, metal alloy quality, action, number of moving parts, all that plays a major role in longevity in a weapon. I've owned a Hi Point 9mm along side a browning 9mm and they both have held up, I wouldn't compare the two by a long shot as far as quality goes, but they both have gone bang when I needed them too.
