there has to be an even playing field on which we can meet and do battle
they don't battle
and we don't read their open mics and shit
I'm aware some of us do, buuuut
there's absolutely no good reason that exis doesn't know who swerve is
and I think it might be a sign of the problem with activity and text in general
we need a battle type that both topicalists and battlers can compete in to unite the board.

I read OMs and battles, both are entertaining in their own way.

There is a clear difference in the personality of the average text writer compared to the average topical writer though.

That's why only a few have successfully done both.

Battling is systematic and dull, because one particular style gains traction and becomes nearly the only one you can use to win a battle. Battling is fun, but bragging for the sake of bragging week in and week out just gets stale. Why do that, when I can just drop an OM about how amazing I am/you aren't and also talk about aliens fucking Sigourney Weaver or whatever? Battling is for people with something to prove.

I don't know who Swerve is but that could be for a lot of reasons...firstly I've only been on this site a couple years and in that time I'm away for months and shit, it's not like I'm here everyday, I drop OM's and have never seen him in that section...If the name Swerve is an alias and he's gone by another name before I may know the dude.
I've never seen that name on any site as a matter of fact, there's always gonna be cats not every knows no matter how good, bad or indifferent they are...I wouldn't know who most of y'all are if I didn't hit up discussion every now and then.

i started out as a battler but decided against it to expand my imagination.

I always thought the middle ground between long bar, short bar, topicalist and battler is, and always has been, @Vulgar.

Writing is writing. Battlers can beat any topicalist at our own game. You guys are just lazy and fixate exclusively on what you're comfortable in. You throw around insults because you don't want to approach a creative process other than battling with an open mind. Therefore, there should be a topical tournament with only battlers allowed & a battling tournament with only topicalists allowed.
