Will The Bruery ship my allocation? Yes, we will ship within California. Regretfully, we cannot yet ship beer to other states, so this service is limited to our California members.

that's inexcusable.. I couldnt find it in a 50 mile radius.

luckily the year before I traded for 3 bottles of it from someone visitng from Belgium so I had it straight from the Monastery...it's the same just sounds cooler the way I got it.

its so rare (being from california) to find someone outside of my brewing circle that has that philosophy.

I went to a kraftbrew festival and I wore a Pliny the Elder button up (yes i own one of those..because they dont sell consecration button ups) and everyone was like "oh try my IPA" and i was like "no fuck u give me ur red" or brown or something and one dude looked so depressed as i walked up and said "let me guess.. you want the IPA? right..." and I gave him the spiel about how I had been getting that all day and I didnt even like IPA's that much

and i got free brown ales from him...unfortunately he sucked as a brewer...oh well...

oats 01-17-2014 12:06 AM

@Pent uP what part of california do you live?

Pent uP 01-17-2014 12:06 AM

I was wearing a shirt that indicated i liked one type of beer, even though i am not a huge fan of it. I went to a beer festival and I got free drinks for being cool but the beer i got for free wasn't the best

not so exciting when you're not into it

right on, I saw Kid Cudi at UCSC in like 2009 lol. I lived in Orange County for 4 years while I was in college. I loved the road trips up north.

But seriously, Swiss cheese is fucking terrible. Why would anyone choose Swiss cheese over provolone, cheddar or even boring-ass American?

Fig 01-17-2014 12:15 AM

When I lived in east la a guy got murdered in our driveway

Awkward

I like taking 1 up from the OC...Stop at big sur if I have a day.

I'm so pissed my car is not roadworthy and last time I took 1 to show my lady it had to be in her prius. UGH

but yeah I partied bit at UCSC Circa 2009/2010 because one of my close childhood friends went there and I had a bunch of HS friends that went there too. Funny...we could've crossed paths for all we know.

that is a very sad story but you had to know what you were doing wearing that to a brew festival in modern times.

did you see that sierra nevada is ceasing production on all non-hop forward beers in 2014? i am incredulous. i love tumbler. it tastes like fall.

IPAs are overrated in that much of the recent influx in craft beer has put them as the centerpiece or even the only thing that matters. But they still are terrific.

In general, I prefer bolder flavor profiles. So I gravitate toward stouts, IPAs and some sours, though I'm still working up a real taste for those.

Diode, have you tried DC Brau? Their seasonal porter is one of the best I've had.

DC Brau looks like DC/MD/VA only for distro.

I don't think I have. I have been to Churchkey in DC though.

That was marvelous.

Certain 01-17-2014 12:29 AM

DC Brau is on the rise. I think it is clearly a step above Dogfish Head (the most overrated brewer in the country), Heavy Seas and Flying Dog for best DelMarVa brewery, though you probably would really like The Brewer's Art, which is very invested in Belgian-style brewing.
