48 laws of power versus how ta be a bitch

Same thing? Does applying the 48 laws of power make you a manipulative bitch?

Chyeahhh!!! 03-04-2013 11:31 AM

to rule is to be the scum of the earth but praised at it's savior

super pimp trillionaire 03-04-2013 05:47 PM

Fools.

veritas 03-04-2013 08:55 PM

I have much to say about this....

Badweather 03-04-2013 09:27 PM

I read this book. It's actually quite helpful in a professional environment. Some of the rules, I apply. Like using not saying too much. For the most part, reading the 48 laws of power allowed me to recognize when girls were trying to seduce me to use me for something. It gave me the info I needed to not fall into some bullshit.

48 laws of power doesn't make you a bitch unless you use it for bitch-like things. Books are open for interpretation by everyone who reads them.

super pimp trillionaire 03-05-2013 07:06 AM

Wtf v?
Good looks bw...

Void 03-05-2013 09:18 AM

Had this discussion with myself in my mid to late teens. Everyone manipulates. This book, or books like it, only make you more conscious of some of the manipulations you probably already use and allow you to focus it, if you so desire. A conscious effort not to manipulate; to be genuine or 'keep it real', can lead down a road of extreme anti-social behavior. You'll recognize personality as finely tuned manipulations, only people aren't aware of it, they just see it as 'who they are'. It's a burden to be intelligent enough to see most sides of things. The average person only sees their personality, their life and their perspective. So when they act the way they do, they don't understand why, they only adapt, react and live. When you start to learn that behavior is just a form of manipulation, and see all the different perspectives at once then you start to realize just how silly we all are.

Flow 03-05-2013 09:23 AM

Manipulative people are usually out to get what they want by making everyone happy. I told my mrs I think she is losing touch with herself after the new born and she needs to get out and see her friends and have some girl time and I will look after our son. She gets out and has a great time and is better off for it. I get to play on the xbox 360 all night with out hearing her nagging....

super pimp trillionaire 03-05-2013 08:06 PM

The key is manipulative bitch. Which adds a lil more power and malice. Can you increase your power without being malicious?

Badweather 03-05-2013 09:22 PM

Yes...if you read the book, you'd see.

super pimp trillionaire 03-05-2013 09:41 PM

Must be inference or a different edition. Should maybe read it in a different light.

You must read his 33 strategies of war as well after....that is the advanced class.

The first thing is this: people want...need control.

super pimp trillionaire 03-05-2013 10:48 PM

Or the illusion of control...
Fools

veritas 03-05-2013 10:53 PM

Ghost1 03-05-2013 11:11 PM

Good look sn00p. Bought to read this shit.....will be backk

Badweather 03-05-2013 11:32 PM

It's a dope read

Rawn M.D. 03-06-2013 01:43 AM

I agree with BW whole heartedly...

its good knowledge...its just how u implement that knowledge that can dictate bitch-like attributes...

and also Void was onto something too...there is a diffrence between a reaction and a response...one is calculated, while the other is acting without control, and therefore can easily be manipulated...and its good to know both sides of the sword, so u no longer react, but calculate ur response...also its helpful to know how to provoke a certain response by those who just act without thought...

i feel knowledge is power, and if implemented correctly this can b extremely helpful...

i mean is implementing the 'art of war' in business setting a bitchlike characteristic...i think not, i think its more strategic.

So I disagree with OP....

Rawn M.D. 03-06-2013 01:54 AM

@Sn00p - that link didnt work...I wanted to refresh myself on this.. = /

another worthwhile read is

Marcus Aurelius- emperor's handbook/meditations
Atilla the Hun - Leadership Secrets
John C Maxwell - 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership

just to brush the surface...

veritas 03-06-2013 08:26 AM

Someone tell me the difference between central and peripheral persuasion please.

dead man 03-06-2013 09:44 AM

systematic vs. heuristic processing @ crunchy dick mouse. what are you aiming at?

and this book looks dope. never heard of it before this thread

if im gonna read it though i'll probably just buy the whole book. the pdf snoop posted looks cool enough but idk, too powerpoint-ish

Zen 03-06-2013 09:49 AM

This sounds very similar to The Prince by Machiavelli. Is it because I've never heard of this until this thread? I'll have to check it out though sounds good

maybe your browser can't open pdf files? Try right clicking the link and select something like "Save target as..." and then open it with Adobe Reader?

And @dead man, yeah, what I posted is probably just a summary. I'd have to spend some more time searching for the whole thing as a pdf, but that's not worth it, 'cause I, for one, hate reading books on a computer screen.

Rawn M.D. 03-06-2013 11:05 AM

I agree @Sn00p; I cant get into a book on a comp...I need to physically b able to turn the pages LOL

and the Prince is diff then this @ZenLand; I mean they are similiar in a way, but The Prince is more story'ish, this is more about control.

Zen 03-06-2013 11:28 AM

The Prince is all about control lol. I'll just have to check it out but appreciate that Rawn. And yeah fuck books on the computer

Sn00p 03-06-2013 11:33 AM

I once tried to read The Art of War on the computer, just 'cause it was available, but not only did the reading from a screen suck, I also got very distracted. If I want to read nowadays, I gotta make sure there's no computer available at all.

Zen 03-06-2013 11:35 AM

Machiavelli's Art of War or Sun Tzu's @Sn00p?

Didn't know Machiavelli wrote one too, so yeah, Sun Tzu's.

Rawn M.D. 03-06-2013 12:13 PM

what i meant was the prince has more a storyline, 48 laws is more a handbook @ZenLand...

n i never heard of Machiavelli's Art of War either... i know about Sun Bin's tho.

Zen 03-06-2013 12:52 PM

Yeah Machiavelli wrote one. Check it out fellas. Sun tzu's is much better though

super pimp trillionaire 03-07-2013 08:29 AM

No mention of the prophet?
Guess KG kinda deserves his own thread...
