your point is?
eminem is for whites too, he's a top 10 MC to everyone in his prime in a genre of music populated by the minority races.

chill with the ignorance destro, i'm just trying to listen to good music. fuck u

ill nik-A 12-31-2013 05:08 PM

Run dmc raisin hell is another influential album during that same era

Certain 12-31-2013 05:23 PM

Paul's Boutique is their masterwork, but the Beastie Boys in general don't get the respect they deserved. Every album they released is good to great. They have a reasonable claim as the best group in rap history, though I lean toward OutKast.

veritas 12-31-2013 05:24 PM

INTERGALACTIC PLANETARY

Destroyer 12-31-2013 06:07 PM

DLB don't get mad at me I hope you do like the beastie boys I'm just saying you'll be the first black dude who admits it

Fart 12-31-2013 06:24 PM

Lold hard at that claim
First ever electronically sampled album says enough

Destroyer 12-31-2013 06:25 PM

thx

i'm anxious to take shit it tho. i've been doing more sampling type shit and i'm very picky on sounds but i need to find an ear for more

i want change in mainstream music. trap music sucks. pop music now-a-days lacks. i was just listening to Aerosmith - Amazing, that song tells a story. it has emotion. it follows a formula but breaks off from it. music lacks that now. people want money and to brag wayyyyyy too much.

Paul's Boutique is the most complex album in rap history. There are 105 songs sampled on it. The tonal and delivery shifts and line-for-line back-and-forths from the rappers is unequaled. The lyricism improved dramatically.

It's not even particularly influential because no one has tried anything on its level, in terms of orchestration. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is the only other rap album that compares.

To be clear, I'm not saying Paul's Boutique is better than Licensed to Ill. Licensed to Ill has undeniable appeal. But Paul's Boutique was the masterwork. In the same way, I like Late Registration more than My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, but My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is Kanye West's masterwork.

I only object to your ignorant dismissal, not your opinion.

DLB 12-31-2013 09:52 PM

Late Registration can be seen as Kanye's masterwork though

all the instrumental sections, he brought in a dude who did movie scores for a rap album. late registration has more songs and is a complete glimpse of Kanye, without too many features, etc.

ill nik-A 01-01-2014 11:17 AM

I thought Paul's Boutique was good but License to ill has far more classics

Destroyer 01-01-2014 11:29 AM

LTI was dope for what it was. still is
but they even admit that they were basically just fucking around on LTI and creating party personas that weren't even what they were really about at the time, but it sold. Paul's was them actually doing the shit that they wanted to do, that's why I like it better.

If you're putting one on your iPod for shuffle play, Licensed to Ill is the smart choice. If you're sitting down in a quiet room and really listening, the complexity of Paul's Boutique will come through.

Zen 01-01-2014 01:23 PM

Certain has good taste in music.

Fart 01-01-2014 09:30 PM

Okay i see what you mean @Certain about paul's, i agree, but I can't listen to it front to back like i can with ill, so it's not as good
