I'm not too familiar with lowland scotches. I had laphroaig not too long ago but I dont think that counts.

laphroaig is an islay. i've been meaning to get my hands on some caol ila if peat/islay is your thing. heard good things.

for lowlands, glenkinchie is yum. it's a dying breed so get some lowland scotch while you can. only 3 distilleries left.

I'll see what I can do. yeah laph was far too smokey for me... I'll see if I can find Kinchie though, thats the oldest one left right? and then there's 2 newer distilleries now?

Nah there's still 3 OG distilleries around, but only Kinchie is widely distributed. 2 new ones sprang up but one folded I think and the other has yet to go to market. either way, anything from newer distilleries is undrinkable obv since they are at most aged a couple years.

I can honestly say I can't remember seeing any of their bottles around here...but that might just be me being too hasty

i always start with the 12 of anything before i start throwing money at the better stuff.

Funny you bring that up. I just read the descriptions from their site and it sounded like 2 different beasts altogether - thats why i brought it up.

I dont know what to get my dad this year for xmas....last year was a 21 year old bottle of glenfiddich..I think this year it'll be glenfarclas....

Either way, that's a fucking drink that I never go near. Dark liq is my shit, but scotch taste fucking horrible imo. Takes a true animal to drink that shit. And believe me, I get it in with my cognac and whiskeys.
