Your thoughts on Quantum Mechanics, quantum computing, or AI

Found myself in a bit of an internet information wormhole tonight...
Simply by reading an article about AI...(Microsoft's $10 Billion investment/acquisiton)

The article about AI mentioned "quantum computing"...

Which lead me to the basics of quantum mechanics...

And the question of: does quantum mechanics violate the laws of logic?

I was exposed briefly in College to QM nearly 20 years ago, but it was right around the time I was transitioning from student to stoner....

The stuff is interesting to me but my internet wormhole got me DEEP IN THE WEEDS of vocabulary and math. I am above average in those things, but it was still a little too much for my 2 AM brain. I've closed the browsing windows now...

In super layman terms:
If particle X COULD be here, OR it COULD be there....quantum mechanics treats it as being in BOTH places...for the purposes of...well, the whole thing, I guess... Fuck it!?

So it's kind of like a probability cloud?

I'm familiar with the "light-slit" experiment...it doesn't make QM any easier to understand IMO.

I'm asking, not telling. Feel free to comment, particularly if you've studied QM

Here's your research music as you read:

there is no rule against having AI write your content.

I made sure to revise where needed.

we have to adapt as a community as these AI tools come out.

Pharaoh are you just now coming across this material?

It is super easy to digest - dm me and I will explain it to you…

Eviction 01-27-2023 03:44 PM

there is a lot of cool AI tools like chatgpt, that shit has become the new google for me.

there is AI that will literally clone a rappers voice and you can have him featture on your track like a deep fake.

if you don't know how to use it though the voices will sound robotic but with mixing and proper use it will sound like the real shit.

Saint 01-27-2023 07:36 PM

fuck quantum mechanics.

No. Came across the basics 20 years ago and did not get much further on the night I made that post...

Just the basic definitions of the big 3 terms... particle/wave duality stuff,

I never thought it made sense to assume two places at once... similar to my instinctive rejection of imaginary numbers the year before, back then.

I'm not anti-math or saying they're wrong, I just can't wrap my "logic brain side" around it.

Answer 01-28-2023 10:22 AM

they've done experiments and have proven 2,000 atoms can exist in 2 places at once. You shouldn't expect it to be super logical to you because you don't live in that environment

If you were capable of living in space and a explosion happened right next to you, you wouldn't hear it because sound doesn't travel in a vacuum. That's not logical based on your experience as someone on earth. If you saw something explode, you'd expect it to make a sound.

a lot of newtonian physics is basically seeing something like a ball drop and coming up with a mathematical formula to represent the motion

since a lot of quantum physics is still undiscovered that kinda have to do the same thing, but completely backwards. They have to take the things they already know and just trust when the math is right, which creates theories, which they try to come up with experiments to prove those theories. They're accepted because they've been proven to work

That's like trying to come up with a formula for a ball dropping without ever having seen a ball drop, and then using that mathematic understanding prove that they can make the ball drop for the first time and fit that formula

Eviction 01-28-2023 03:48 PM

AI is going to take a lot of jobs, literally coded an entire website with chatgpt, if I forget how to do something, I can just say give me the code for so and so.

Point taken..Thanks for contributing ITT.

Any quick synopsis on why imaginary numbers exist/work, for me?/us.

Edit:
The square root of a NEGATIVE number... is X"i"...meaning you're multiplying by a both POS & NEG at the same time and calling them the same? Just a quick blurb for me?..to help understand

Can't wait for AI porn to get good enough to satisfy my VR needs as the motion sensors gets me off properly and I can stop wasting money on OF girls to get on vr chat and Discord with me. That kind of tech would be pretty good, the rest in terms of writing/painting etc. is just next level plagiarism tbh

I sometimes forget the sort of virgins we have post here

this post is wild to me

Objective 01-29-2023 06:48 AM

That's how far tech has come. Your wife probably withholds sex seeing how bitter you are, get with the times and marry your body pillow. I refuse to believe that the people still active here doesn't resort to shit like that, by people I mean you and your movie collection. The body pillow can be of a dead person as well btw and smell like it, too

Dank 01-29-2023 08:06 AM

lmao I’ve two kids thanks

only way you satisfy females is buying DoraTheDepthsplora a motorised wall mounted black dildo off her Amazon WishList

pathetic

I thought it was redirecting her to the badgirlsbible and come back to you with a wishlist as a way to spice up the bedroom, but hey... Your guess is as good as mine

Condolences about the kids, that must be rough

Dank 01-30-2023 02:23 PM

lmao still nowhere near as rough as your pet cum sock

weird ass norwegian Lurch looking faggot

Perfectly spoken as someone that hasn't had sex in a while. Sorry to hear about the state of your marriage, hope it never gets better and your cult-like dungeon continues to be as lonely and Tate-like as it seems to be

Did you make an AI write your reply, or are you literally this fucking stupid? At the very least you must have some heavily social intelligence issues to click "post" and think that was a smart move and a "gotcha"-moment, lmfao

Witty 02-02-2023 07:53 AM

You could count the people who fully understand quantum physics on the fingers of both hands and that's probably a generous estimate. I find it endlessly interesting, but a lot of it is way beyond my comprehension and I imagine always will be.

Master Rock 02-03-2023 06:27 PM

Even the people who created it have a difficult time defining it. Its basically beyond the binary, in a sense of multiple binary dimensions computing simultaneously. Huh?....exactly.

Set me up a decent website pro bono...with all the name/rights and content for me... Nothing fancy just a site for political/sports/news/debates articles...just a list of links with article titles and standard text articles.... But if you make it nice and user-friendly and good-looking in exchange I will
CONSIDER your AI/Prompt Verses in AOWL competitions... IF you edit them a decent amount.

Deal?

Lemme know bud, and if you agree you can PM me if u want to.. about "name", specifics... In the LOTTERY'S "off chance" it ever becomes readable for viewers, the tip is 5% Ad revenue for YOU... if I sell out for internet clicks in the future, i.e. if it's done well and searchable and popular & I don't quit early on & u shoot a tiny maintenance/updates,,,

Haha... just consider it, Eviction... or Decline.. & throw some original multies together if u wanna be judged.
GL and lemme know

Good, and likely true points Wit... Though you might underestimate yourself. A quick internet search of the most basic terms and theories on the subject might be only moderately confusing/comprehendable and you could learn a thing or 2.
Like I did ITT...which unfortunately led to me rambling/asking questions... @Answer has satiated my thirst for assurance that the micro [edit:subatomic*] world has slightly different intuitions, but my imaginary numbers proposition/confusion remains an open question for him, or any1 else..

Hope u N the fam are well Witty and have a good weekend

Thanks, all is good on my end, I hope the same on yours.

I didn't claim lack of knowledge due to not pursuing knowledge. I've seen and read enough to have a reasonable conversation on the subject, or at least I believe that to be the case. I can quote the theories and experiments and can gather enough from the evidence to believe it. However, I do not understand it, and if my enormous ego has to submit to something, it must be fucking difficult lol

Chuckled silently in my brain reading that

Witty 02-04-2023 11:16 PM

Spooky action at a distance, as Einstein said. If I remember correctly this was a disparaging remark which he later corrected, but it's very apt nonetheless.

I did say I was being generous. I don't think anyone does.

Actually you are right to chuckle, it was a stupid thing to say.
