LOL...

My favorite of all time is probably Martin Lawrence. If we're talking about who I think is really good at standup though I could watch Katt Williams all day.

Answer 06-09-2020 05:17 PM

I'd usually say Jimmy Carr. He's a machine when it comes to putting out thousands of one-liner jokes, and his crowd work is incredibly quick and witty, but he is a bit more quantity over quality sometimes.

Lately I've been really digging James Acaster's netflix stuff. There's something about clean comics that I respect a lot more because it's a lot harder to pull off humor with topics that aren't seen as edgy

Oddly enough, both british dudes. Outside of that: Bill Burr, Jerrod Carmichael, Mitch Hedburg, Dave Chappelle, Brian Regan to name a few, but I could go on forever.

Martian Lawrence is also solid

Zaddy 06-09-2020 05:18 PM

Amy Schumer

Saw Brian Regan live I nearly died. The girl next to me was dying too and I used every moment of it brush my knee against hers.

LOL... A lot of people dont like her. She dissed Patrick O'Neal in a roast and it was solid but very mean.

Exis 06-09-2020 06:01 PM

Kevin Hart...

Very solid list. James Acaster is great. Mitch is iconic.

I'd probably say Bill Burr, but it changes.

uh-oh 06-09-2020 06:34 PM

yea burr is above everybody and has been for a minute

my favorite up and comer is shane gillis.

it all depends tho, straight standup is different, cuz i love a ton of comedians from podcasts but don't care much for their stand up.

robert kelly, big jay oakerson, ari shaffir, tom segura, joey diaz, mark normand, chris distefano, rich vos, there are a ton.

im trying to think of just standup though. most these dudes are just funny in life tho. like bobby lee. theo von.

i enjoy comedians. just scrolled up and seen chappelle and regan of course. not sure how i forgot them. dave attell is also the fucking man, louie is a genius i wasn't feeling his last special much but word

Finnydot 06-09-2020 06:44 PM

How the fuck has no one mentioned Chappelle? That dude just got the Mark Twain lifetime achievement award for comedy. Dude's the GOAT.

Exis 06-09-2020 07:22 PM

They did nigga, scroll upwards...Answer mentioned Chapelle.

Exis 06-09-2020 08:03 PM

Doug Stanhope is hilarious, pouring beer on himself.

Zaddy 06-10-2020 12:09 AM

All of this

Ajax 06-10-2020 12:32 AM

Bill Burr is probably the best current comic out there. Mitch Hedberg is a personal favorite too. “I find that ducks opinion of me is very much influenced by whether or not I have bread.”

Genius.

Ouch 06-10-2020 12:54 AM

favorite comedian is really really hard to say... like who's youre favorite rapper? Thats a long story and I don't even know if I could come up with one.

Comedians though... gotta be stand up.. I don't respect you at all if you can't do stand up... But Dave Chapelle.. 2 of kevin harts early stand ups were really good... ... but not my favorite comedian.. Bill Burr is hilarious... toss up between bill burr and Dave chappelle for me.

Ouch 06-10-2020 01:01 AM

what do you guys think about that comedian... hes a new york dude... PETE DAVIDSON... well if you consider long island new york haha... I don't but anyway.. I watched one of his stand ups on netflix probably the only one he did... and I thought it was kinda funny ... im on the fence about the dude I dunno if I want to punch him in the face, or if I like him.

Ouch 06-10-2020 01:06 AM

Pete Davidson obviously isnt on the goat list comededians... not even close. Was just bringing him up.

You know who's a funny mofo (rip) is Eddie Griffin a lot of times you'd see hi on shows and stuff as just a quick in and out guy.... but he did a lot of stand up and was hilarious... (RIP)

Ouch 06-10-2020 01:12 AM

I've always thought stand up comedy would be the hardest thing to do. Especially on a large scale....with rap and shit sure.. on a large scale worried about it... but you've got like 10 yes men with you, 10 dancers, 100 'tech' people. So you can run out the building if you fuck up.

A stand up comedian no matter how big the venue... its just you and the microphone. And 2 thousand people who paid a lot of money to come see you entertain them. Thats a lot of pressure.. I respect them.

uh-oh 06-10-2020 05:02 AM

stanhope is the man.

pete davidson is meh. he's been ok on podcasts but i don't care for his standup. eddie griffin was the man tho.

Geno 06-10-2020 06:50 AM

Currently, Bill Burr

Pete is whack as fuck tbh

Norm MacDonald

uh-oh 06-10-2020 11:35 AM

Norm da god

Amen 06-11-2020 04:07 PM

Jim Carrey

Ouch 06-11-2020 04:51 PM

Yeah Norm Mcdonald is pretty funny... and he did stand up for awhile and think he's got a real weird style... but thats what it takes to be funny

Jim Carrey I don't think he ever really did stand up.... Jim carrey's alrigh though as a comdedian/actor and stuff but I thought were were talking about stand up.

and yeah @Genocide... I don't know if I want to punch pete davidson in the face, or if I like him... I watched his netflix stand up special and it was kind of funny at times... but I agree he mos def shouldn't be mentioned on a list of great stand ups.... not even close

Amen 06-11-2020 06:51 PM

He began his career doing stand up. Then was casted on In Living Color.

Dope girl 06-11-2020 07:58 PM

Tyler Perry

Culture 06-12-2020 07:46 AM

surprised only one person has mentioned louis ck. I know he was jerking off on doors or w/e but he's still pretty damn funny

uh-oh 06-12-2020 05:17 PM

louie is the man, i think i need to rewatch his last special cuz there for awhile he was basically the best out. im sure its solid but the problem with these guys like louie, burr, chapelle, is they are so good that im expecting to be blown away, so if its just a good special im like ehh it was aight
